Story Transcript:

En: Juan and María decided to travel to Mexico to see the place, the culture and the food.

En: As they walked through the colorful streets, a delicious aroma led them to a small food market.

En: There they found some nice vendors who invited them to try the spicy food.

En: Juan and María, excited to try something new, accepted the invitation without knowing that this experience would not be exactly what they expected.

En: The vendors served them a plate with some small but wicked chillies.

En: Juan ate his part and immediately felt intense heat in his mouth.

En: But he tried to keep his composure and not make a scene.

Es: María no tuvo la misma suerte.
En: Maria did not have the same luck.

En: Upon tasting the chilli, her eyes began to water and she began to cough and drink water to soothe the burning.

En: Vendors and locals laughed at her.

En: "Not bad," said Juan, trying to appear calm.

En: The vendors looked at them and offered them another type of spicy food.

En: This time Juan was encouraged to taste it, but he also began to feel the heat on his tongue and throat.

Es: María pidió clemencia y agua.
En: Maria asked for mercy and water.

En: After eating, the vendors said goodbye and asked if they had enjoyed their meal.

En: Juan and María tried to show that they were, although tears ran down their cheeks and they felt pain in their mouths.

En: "Yes, it was a unique experience," said Juan, while he continued to drink water.

En: "Yes, only one," said Maria, smiling with tears in her eyes.

En: Juan and María continued walking through the streets of Mexico, talking about the experience they had just had.

En: They realized that spicy food was not for them.

En: "Next time let's eat something softer," Juan said, still feeling heat in his mouth.

En: "Totally agree," said Maria, still drinking water.

En: And so, Juan and María learned an important lesson that night in Mexico.

En: They learned that not all experiences are good, but that you can always find something positive in them.

En: And above all, they learned that they should ask before trying spicy food.
