Story Transcript:

Uk: Влітку, одного ясного дня, Оксана тихенько прокрадалась вузькою алеєю покинутого міста.
En: One clear day in the summer, Oksana quietly made her way down a narrow alley in the abandoned city.

Uk: Вона штовхала стару візочок з супермаркету.
En: She was pushing an old shopping cart.

Uk: У ньому, на горі розбитих деталей і пляшок, здіймався велетенський огірок.
En: In it, atop a pile of broken parts and bottles, there rose a giant cucumber.

Uk: Це був скарб, який Оксана мала доставити до своєї прихованої частини саду.
En: This was the treasure Oksana needed to deliver to her hidden part of the garden.

Uk: Кілька років тому місто стало пусткою.
En: A few years ago, the city had become a wasteland.

Uk: Люди розбіглися, і тиша міста порушувалася тільки голосами хитрих білок.
En: People scattered, and the silence of the city was broken only by the voices of cunning squirrels.

Uk: Вони стали господарями цих вулиць, відчуваючи слабкість людства.
En: They had become the masters of these streets, sensing the weakness of humanity.

En: "We were just thinking how to bypass the squirrels," said Mykola with a sarcastic grin.

Uk: "Нам потрібний твій огірок.
En: "We need your cucumber.

Uk: Це єдиний шанс вмовити їх", - додав Петро.
En: It's the only chance to convince them," added Petro.

Uk: Оксана зітхнула, розуміючи, що інший шлях у місто зарослий і ще небезпечніший.
En: Oksana sighed, realizing that the other way into the city was overgrown and even more dangerous.

Uk: І тоді Микола запропонував план.
En: Then Mykola proposed a plan.

Uk: Вони знайшли старий гарбуз, який можна було використати як приманку.
En: They found an old pumpkin that could be used as bait.

Uk: Побігати за ним білкам було б цікавіше, ніж навіть за огірком.
En: Chasing after it would be more interesting for the squirrels than even the cucumber.

Uk: Домовившись, вони облаштували маленьку пастку.
En: After agreeing, they set up a small trap.
