Story Transcript:

Ca: El vent de tardor feia ballar les fulles als peus d'Oriol mentre creuava la plaça del poble de Figueres.
En: The autumn wind made the leaves dance at Oriol's feet as he crossed the town square in Figueres.

Ca: Era la Castanyada, i el lloc bategava amb l'escalfor dels focs dels rostidors de castanyes.
En: It was Castanyada, and the place was buzzing with the warmth of chestnut roasters' fires.

Ca: Oriol, un nen ple d'imaginació, tenia els ulls brillants amb la promesa del dia.
En: Oriol, a boy full of imagination, had eyes shining with the promise of the day.

Ca: Al seu costat, la Laia, la seva millor amiga, recollia castanyes amb devoció.
En: Beside him, Laia, his best friend, was devotedly collecting chestnuts.

Ca: La Marina, la seva mestra, estava a prop, emocionada per explicar les tradicions.
En: Marina, his teacher, was nearby, excited to share the traditions.

Ca: "Mira quantes castanyes, Oriol!
En: "Look how many chestnuts, Oriol!"

Ca: " va dir la Laia, mostrant el seu farcell.
En: said Laia, showing her bundle.

Ca: Però Oriol no podia deixar de pensar en els rumors que havia sentit.
En: But Oriol couldn't stop thinking about the rumors he had heard.

Ca: Es deia que, a la plaça, hi havia un racó amagat on els esperits es reunien cada Castanyada.
En: It was said that in the square, there was a hidden corner where spirits gathered every Castanyada.

Ca: Amb tanta gent, fer la descoberta es convertia en una aventura irresistible per a ell.
En: With so many people, making the discovery turned into an irresistible adventure for him.

Ca: La Marina va començar a explicar la història de la Castanyada, parlant de com la gent encenia focs per recordar el caliu de la família i els que ja no hi eren.
En: Marina began to tell the story of Castanyada, talking about how people lit fires to remember the warmth of family and those who were no longer there.

Ca: Però Oriol, amb les orelles acostumades a les històries més insòlites, va sentir el seu cor picar a un altre ritme.
En: But Oriol, with ears accustomed to more unusual stories, felt his heart beating to a different rhythm.

Ca: "Laia, t'has assabentat del que diuen sobre els esperits?
En: "Laia, have you heard what they say about the spirits?"

Ca: " va murmurar-li mentre la multitud es movia al seu voltant.
En: he murmured as the crowd moved around them.

Ca: "Despreocupa't, Oriol.
En: "Don't worry, Oriol.

Ca: Ens hem de quedar amb el grup," va respondre la Laia, però Oriol ja somiava desperta.
En: We need to stay with the group," replied Laia, but Oriol was already daydreaming.

Ca: Va decidir aventurar-se sol cap a un racó menys conegut de la plaça, mentre la Laia mirava enrere preocupada.
En: He decided to venture alone to a lesser-known corner of the square, while Laia looked back worriedly.

Ca: Els colors de tardor donaven a cada ombra un aire enigmàtic.
En: The autumn colors gave every shadow an enigmatic air.

Ca: Allà, sota un antic roure, Oriol va trobar un home gran, amb una veu suau com el vent.
En: There, under an ancient oak, Oriol found an old man with a voice as gentle as the wind.

Ca: "Tu busques històries, no?
En: "You are looking for stories, aren't you?"

Ca: " li va dir l'home sense preàmbuls.
En: the man said without preamble.

Ca: Sorprès però encantat, Oriol es va asseure als seus peus.
En: Surprised but delighted, Oriol sat at his feet.

Ca: L'home li va explicar històries antigues de la Castanyada, de com les famílies recordaven els seus ancestres al voltant del foc mentre menjaven castanyes i moniatos.
En: The man told him ancient stories of Castanyada, of how families remembered their ancestors around the fire while eating chestnuts and sweet potatoes.

Ca: Li va parlar dels esperits com a amics que venien només a fer companyia, no a espantar.
En: He spoke of spirits as friends who came only to keep company, not to frighten.

Ca: Quan va tornar amb el grup, les preocupacions de la Marina i de la Laia es van esvair ràpidament en veure el somriure del nen.
En: When he returned to the group, Marina and Laia's worries quickly vanished upon seeing the boy’s smile.

Ca: Oriol, amb una emoció nova, va compartir tot el que havia après, parlant animadament dels esperits amics i de la importància de recordar els nostres arrels.
En: Oriol, with a new sense of excitement, shared all he had learned, speaking animatedly about the friendly spirits and the importance of remembering our roots.

Ca: La Marina el va escoltar orgullosa, mentre la Laia va somriure, ara més relaxada.

Ca: Oriol havia tornat segur, i no només això, sinó amb una nova comprensió del significat d'aquella jornada.

Ca: Des d'aquell moment, Oriol no només va celebrar la Castanyada per les castanyes o els moniatos, sinó per la connexió amb el passat i el caliu dels records.
