Story Transcript:

Da: Snefnugg faldt stille ned over København.
En: Snefnugg fell quietly over København.

Da: Vinterkulden sneg sig ind, mens mennesker hastede rundt for at klare de sidste juleforberedelser.
En: The winter cold crept in as people hurried around to complete the last Christmas preparations.

En: At the police station on the corner of a busy street, the Christmas lights shone in the large windows.

Da: Indenfor summede det med aktivitet.
En: Inside, there was a buzz of activity.

En: Lars stepped inside from the cold street life outside.

En: As an accountant, he was used to numbers and details, but now he felt like a fish out of water.

En: His company had been the victim of a theft, and Lars was afraid that suspicion would fall on him.

Da: I venterummet sad mennesker og ventede.
En: In the waiting room, people sat and waited.

En: The light from the decorations provided a sense of hope, but the atmosphere was still marked by seriousness.

En: Lars looked around and noticed the policeman Hans, who gave a friendly nod.

En: "Come on in," said Hans, opening the office door.

En: In the office sat Mette, a detective with a keen eye.

En: She put down her notes and looked up at Lars.

Da: "Hvad kan jeg hjælpe dig med?"
En: "How can I help you?"

Da: spurgte hun.
En: she asked.

Da: Lars satte sig i stolen overfor hende.
En: Lars sat in the chair opposite her.

En: "Something has happened at my work," he began in a low voice.

En: "Money has been stolen, and I'm afraid people think it's me."

Da: "Hvordan det?"
En: "Why do you think that?"

En: Lars pulled a few papers from his bag.

En: It appears one of my colleagues, whom I'd rather not mention here, has irregular transactions."

Da: Han skævede til Mette for at se, hvordan hun tog informationen.
En: He glanced at Mette to see how she received the information.

En: "That's well-found," said Mette, leaning forward.

En: "You've done a thorough piece of work."

Da: Lars følte en lettelse skylle over sig.
En: Lars felt a wave of relief wash over him.

Da: "Tak.
En: "Thank you.

En: I just want to make sure the right people look into it."

En: Mette nodded and closed the folder with the evidence.

Da: "Vi skal tage sagen herfra.
En: "We'll take the case from here.

Da: Du har intet at bekymre dig om."
En: You have nothing to worry about."

En: As Lars left the police station, the snow was still falling heavily, but he felt lighter.

Da: Han vidste nu, at retfærdigheden ville vinde frem.
En: He now knew that justice would prevail.

Da: Julelysene blinkede opmuntrende bag ham.
En: The Christmas lights blinked encouragingly behind him.

En: He had gained more than a cleared name – he had also found confidence in his own abilities.

En: It was Christmas, and the lights in København seemed brighter than ever.
