Story Transcript:

Da: Det var en strålende sommerdag i Frederiksberg Have.
En: It was a brilliant summer day in Frederiksberg Garden.

En: The sun shone brightly, and a slight breeze stirred the green leaves.

Da: Blomsterne stod i fuldt flor og sendte deres søde dufte ud i luften.
En: The flowers were in full bloom, sending their sweet fragrances into the air.

En: Astrid and Lars were out with a group of friends.

Da: Astrid elskede at være aktiv.
En: Astrid loved being active.

En: She was always eager to prove how strong she was.

Da: Men hun havde en hemmelighed.
En: But she had a secret.

En: She had asthma, and she didn't want anyone to know about it.

En: Especially, she didn't want her friends to see her as weak.

Da: Lars kendte sin søster godt.
En: Lars knew his sister well.

Da: Han vidste, hvordan hun skjulte sin astma.
En: He knew how she hid her asthma.

Da: Det bekymrede ham.
En: It worried him.

En: He loved his sister and wanted to take care of her.

En: But he also knew that Astrid hated being watched over.

En: They walked through the park, and soon began to play and run around.

En: She wanted to run just as fast as everyone else.

Da: Hun ville ikke vise, at hun havde begrænsninger.
En: She didn't want to show that she had limitations.

Da: Med tiden begyndte hendes vejrtrækning at blive tung.
En: In time, her breathing started to become heavy.

Da: Men hun kæmpede videre, ignorerede de advarselstegn, hendes krop sendte.
En: But she kept pushing, ignoring the warning signs her body was sending.

Da: Lars lagde mærke til hendes anstrengte åndedrag.
En: Lars noticed her labored breathing.

En: He knew what was about to happen.

En: He waited for the right moment to step in, but he didn’t want to humiliate her in front of her friends.

Da: Pludselig, midt i en leg, stoppede Astrid brat op.
En: Suddenly, in the middle of a game, Astrid stopped abruptly.

En: Her chest tightened, and she struggled to breathe.

Da: Panikken spredte sig blandt hendes venner.
En: Panic spread among her friends.

Da: Lars var ikke i tvivl længere.
En: Lars had no more doubts.

En: He rushed over to her and grabbed her bag.

En: With calm and steady hands, he found her inhaler and placed it over her mouth.

Da: "Træk vejret, Astrid.
En: "Breathe, Astrid.

Da: Jeg er her," sagde han blidt.
En: I'm here," he said gently.

En: Astrid took a few deep breaths with the inhaler.

En: Her breathing slowly stabilized, and she sank onto the bench.

En: Her friends looked on with concern, but Lars remained calm.

Da: Han vidste, hvad han skulle gøre.
En: He knew what to do.

En: As the others went to get water, Lars stayed by Astrid's side.

Da: "Hvorfor siger du ikke noget, Astrid?
En: "Why don't you say something, Astrid?

En: You don’t have to prove anything to anyone," he said quietly.

En: Astrid looked at her brother, her eyes filled with tears.

En: "I just want to be like everyone else," she whispered.

Da: "Jeg vil vise, at jeg kan."
En: "I want to show that I can."

En: "I know, but you need to take care of yourself too.

Da: Vi elsker dig, uanset hvad.
En: We love you no matter what.

En: You are strong, but you don’t need to hide your struggles."

Da: Astrid nikkede langsomt.
En: Astrid slowly nodded.

Da: Hun så ud over parken, hvor solen stadig skinnede.
En: She looked out over the park, where the sun was still shining.

En: She now understood that it was okay to be honest about her limitations.

Da: "Tak, Lars.
En: "Thank you, Lars.

Da: Jeg skal blive bedre til det.
En: I’ll try to get better at that.

Da: Tak fordi du altid er der for mig."
En: Thank you for always being there for me."

En: Lars smiled and put his arm around his sister's shoulders.

Da: "Jeg stoler på dig, Astrid.
En: "I trust you, Astrid.

En: You’re strong in ways you don’t even realize."

En: They sat there together as the world continued around them.

Da: De vidste begge, at denne dag havde ændret noget.
En: They both knew that this day had changed something.

En: A new understanding had grown between them, and they would support each other in a better way moving forward.
