Story Transcript:

En: It was a quiet morning at the boarding school, where the cool late summer breeze played with the first golden leaves.

En: Lars walked along the gravel path towards the school's old theater building.

En: The red brick building stood proudly among the beautiful trees, whose leaves were slowly beginning to change colors.

En: Lars had always been one of the quiet students.

En: His talent for acting was unknown to most, as he hid in the wings during the annual autumn performances.

Da: Men i år var noget anderledes.
En: But this year was different.

Da: Lars ønskede mere.
En: Lars wanted more.

En: He wanted to break out of his invisible role and play a larger part in the play.

Da: Sofie, skolens entusiastiske teaterinstruktør, havde lagt vægt på, at årets forestilling skulle blive noget helt særligt.
En: Sofie, the school's enthusiastic theater director, had emphasized that this year's performance should be something truly special.

En: Her dreams of a theater career drove her, and she pushed the students to achieve perfection.

Da: "Vi skal overraske publikum i år," sagde hun ofte, mens hun planlagde scenerne med stor omhu.
En: "We must surprise the audience this year," she often said while planning the scenes with great care.

Da: Niels, skolens selvsikre stjerne, havde brugt de sidste mange år i centrum af scenen.
En: Niels, the school's confident star, had spent the last many years in the center of the stage.

Da: Han havde altid glitrende roller, men i år stod han over for en svær karakter.
En: He always had dazzling roles, but this year he faced a challenging character.

En: It was a new challenge for him.

En: Despite his confidence, the work was more demanding this time.

Da: En dag, da Lars trådte ind i teatersalen, besluttede han sig for at forsøge sig med en større rolle.
En: One day, as Lars stepped into the theater hall, he decided to try for a larger role.

En: Nervousness tightened his stomach as he approached Sofie.

En: "I would like to try a larger role," he said quietly, unsure of her reaction.

En: Sofie was surprised but saw an opportunity.

Da: "Selvfølgelig, Lars.
En: "Of course, Lars.

En: Let's see what you can do," she replied with a smile.

En: Lars' first rehearsals were marked by his reticence, and he could feel Niels' presence as a constant reminder of how much he lacked confidence.

Da: Alligevel gav Niels ham nogle råd.
En: Yet, Niels gave him some advice.

Da: "Vær dig selv på scenen.
En: "Be yourself on stage.

Da: Karakteren kommer fra dig," sagde Niels opmuntrende.
En: The character comes from you," Niels said encouragingly.

Da: Da dagen for generalprøven kom, føltes kulissen overvældende for Lars.
En: When the day of the dress rehearsal came, the set felt overwhelming for Lars.

En: On stage, he froze in the lights while everyone waited.

En: Sofie stood beside the stage and gave him a loving nod.

Da: "Improvisér, Lars.
En: "Improvise, Lars.

Da: Du kan det," sagde hun.
En: You can do it," she said.

En: Just as Lars thought he would lose courage, Niels stepped onto the stage.

En: Together, they impressed everyone with a joint improvisation.

Da: Premieren gik over al forventning.
En: The premiere exceeded all expectations.

En: The audience applauded enthusiastically, and Lars felt a new confidence growing within him.

Da: Han havde gjort det.
En: He had done it.

En: After the performance, Sofie said to Lars, "You did fantastic.

Da: Tak fordi du turde."
En: Thank you for daring."

Da: Niels klappede ham på skuldrene, "Jeg vidste, du kunne."
En: Niels patted him on the shoulder, "I knew you could."

Da: Den årlige efterårsforestilling havde ændret mere end bare et skuespil.
En: The annual autumn performance had changed more than just a play.

En: Lars was now looked upon with respect, and he felt open to new challenges.

Da: Sofie lærte at værdsætte talent og vilje over perfektion.
En: Sofie learned to appreciate talent and will over perfection.

Da: Kostskolens gamle teaterbygning havde endnu engang skabt rum for personlig udvikling, mens bladene udenfor stille susede af efterår.
En: The boarding school's old theater building had once again created space for personal development, while the leaves outside quietly rustled with autumn.
