Story Transcript:

Da: Freja trak sin uldne hat længere ned over ørene.
En: Freja pulled her woolen hat further down over her ears.

En: The wind blew sharply along Nyhavn’s canal, but the light from the many Christmas decorations cast a warm glow over everything.

En: It was a cold winter day, but the mood was high.

En: Freja, Nikolaj, and their little sister Sofie were having a cozy day together.

En: They walked along the colorful houses as tourist boats quietly sailed by.

En: Freja smiled at Sofie, who laughed at something Nikolaj had said.

En: Sofie wore a big red hat, almost too big for her little head, but it suited her perfectly.

Da: Hendes begejstring for dagen var smittende.
En: Her enthusiasm for the day was contagious.

En: Freja had a knot in her stomach that she couldn't ignore.

En: She had received a job offer from a prestigious company in London.

En: It was a dream that could open new doors.

Da: Men hendes familie betød alt for hende.
En: But her family meant everything to her.

En: She was weighed down with guilt at the thought of moving away from them.

En: As they sat on a bench by the canal to take a break, Nikolaj frowned and noticed her silence.

En: "Freja, what are you thinking about?"

Da: spurgte han.
En: he asked.

Da: Freja tøvede.
En: Freja hesitated.

Da: Grundet brød hun stilheden.
En: Slowly she broke the silence.

En: "I've gotten a job offer in London," she said cautiously.

En: "But it means I have to move."

Da: Nikolaj nikkede langsomt.
En: Nikolaj nodded slowly.

Da: "Det er en fantastisk mulighed, Freja.
En: "That's a fantastic opportunity, Freja.

Da: Men du er bange for, hvad familien vil tænke."
En: But you're afraid of what the family will think."

Da: Freja sukkede og så ud over vandet.
En: Freja sighed and looked out over the water.

En: I don't know how mom and dad will take it."

Da: Nikolaj sad et øjeblik stille.
En: Nikolaj sat quietly for a moment.

Da: Han tog blidt Frejas hånd.
En: He gently took Freja’s hand.

En: "You must do what makes you happy.

Da: Vi vil altid være her.
En: We will always be here.

En: You can come home and visit us whenever you want."

Da: Freja følte sig pludselig lettere.
En: Freja suddenly felt lighter.

Da: Nikolaj havde altid været hendes støtte, og hans ord gav hende den tillid, hun manglede.
En: Nikolaj had always been her support, and his words gave her the confidence she lacked.

En: They sat there in silence, letting the wind carry their worries away.

En: As they got up and continued their walk, Freja’s steps were lighter.

Da: Hun vidste, hvad hun skulle gøre.
En: She knew what she had to do.

Da: Freja fortalte senere sine forældre om beslutningen.
En: Freja later told her parents about her decision.

Da: Hun blev overrasket over deres støtte.
En: She was surprised by their support.

En: They understood her dreams and were proud that she dared to follow them.

En: Even though Freja would soon leave for London, she knew that Nyhavn, with its colorful houses and memories, would always be her home.

En: She looked forward to new adventures while maintaining strong ties to her family.

Da: Freja gik fremtiden i møde med modet hun først fandt ved vandet i Nyhavn.
En: Freja faced the future with the courage she first found by the water in Nyhavn.
