Story Transcript:

En: Lars went into the café and looked at the menu.

Da: Han var sulten, så han gjorde sit bedste for at vælge noget lækkert.
En: He was hungry, so he did his best to choose something delicious.

Da: "Jeg vil gerne have et traditionelt dansk smørrebrød," sagde Lars til tjeneren, Signe.
En: "I would like a traditional Danish smørrebrød," said Lars to the waiter, Signe.

En: Signe tried to hold back her laughter, but it was difficult.

En: She said, "Unfortunately, we don't have sandwiches today, but we do have a hot dog?

Da: Vil du have det?"
En: Would you like that?"

Da: Lars blev forvirret.
En: Lars was confused.

Da: "En hotdog?
En: "A hot dog?

Da: Er det ikke noget amerikansk?"
En: Isn't that an American thing?"

Da: Signe forsøgte at holde sin latter inde igen.
En: Signe tried to hold back her laughter.

Da: "Ja, det er det.
En: "Yeah, it is.

En: But it's a really good hot dog if you want to try it."

En: Lars thought about it for a moment.

En: He was really hungry and decided to give it a try.

En: "Okay, I'd like a hot dog then."

Da: Signe gav ham hotdoggen og Lars begyndte at spise.
En: Signe gave him the hot dog and Lars began to eat.

En: He was surprised at how good it tasted.

Da: Mens Lars nød sin hotdog, begyndte Signe at grine.
En: While Lars enjoyed his hot dog, Signe started to laugh.

En: She told him, "You're the first person to ever order a hot dog and think it was a sandwich!"

En: Lars blushed and felt a little stupid.

En: "Yes, it was a mistake, but the hot dog is really good!"

En: "Yes, it is!

En: I'm just glad you liked it."

Da: Lars begyndte også at grine.
En: Lars also started to laugh.

En: It was stupid, but it was fun.

En: He realized that mistakes can be fun and laughing with others is a good thing.

En: In this way, Lars continued his lunch with a hot dog and a big smile on his face.

En: He also learned to read the menu carefully before ordering.

Da: Slut.
En: Finish.
