Story Transcript:

Ko: 서울의 한 주택가.
En: A residential area in Seoul.

Ko: 가을이 오고, 거리에는 빨간색과 노란색의 나무 잎이 바람에 흔들리고 있다.
En: Autumn has arrived, and on the streets, red and yellow tree leaves sway in the wind.

Ko: 추석도 지나고, 길가에는 떨어진 잎사귀가 발밑에 사락사락 소리를 낸다.
En: With Chuseok having passed, fallen leaves on the roadside make rustling sounds underfoot.

Ko: 공기는 서늘하고 깨끗하지 않다.
En: The air is cool but not clean.

Ko: 지수는 고등학생이다.
En: Jisoo is a high school student.

Ko: 그녀는 천식을 앓고 있고, 항상 뛰어난 오빠의 그늘에 가려져 있다.
En: She suffers from asthma and is always overshadowed by her outstanding older brother.

Ko: 이번 가을에는 육상 대회를 준비하고 싶다.
En: This autumn, she wants to prepare for the athletics competition.

Ko: 하지만 공기가 좋지 않다.
En: However, the air quality is poor.

Ko: 부모님은 그녀의 건강이 걱정되어 반대하신다.
En: Her parents worry about her health and oppose the idea.

Ko: 지수는 고민한다.
En: Jisoo is conflicted.

Ko: "이런 상태로는 대회에 나갈 수 없겠어,"라고 지수는 속으로 생각한다.
En: "In this condition, I can't participate in the competition," Jisoo thinks to herself.

Ko: 그녀는 결심한다.
En: She makes up her mind.

Ko: 먼저, 동네 병원에 있는 민호 선생님을 찾아간다.
En: First, she visits Minho at the local clinic.

Ko: "선생님, 어떻게 해야 천식을 관리할 수 있을까요?" 지수가 물어본다.
En: "Doctor, how can I manage my asthma?" Jisoo asks.

Ko: 민호 선생님은 지수에게 친절하게 설명한다.
En: Dr. Minho explains kindly to Jisoo.

Ko: "지수야, 운동 전에 항상 천식 약을 챙겨 먹어야 해.
En: "You must always take your asthma medication before exercising, Jisoo.

Ko: 그리고 상태가 나빠지면 바로 멈춰야 해." 지수는 고개를 끄덕였다.
En: And if your condition worsens, stop immediately." Jisoo nods in understanding.

Ko: 다음으로, 지수는 학교 육상부 코치인 은진 선생님을 만난다.
En: Next, Jisoo meets with her school track coach, Eunjin.

Ko: "선생님, 대회를 준비하고 싶어요. 하지만 천식 때문에 걱정이에요," 지수가 말한다.
En: "Coach, I want to prepare for the competition, but I'm worried about my asthma," Jisoo says.

Ko: 은진 선생님은 생각에 잠긴다.
En: Coach Eunjin thinks for a moment.

Ko: "음, 그러면 나랑 같이 훈련 일정을 조절해보자.

Ko: 주위 사람들은 부랴부랴 달려와 그녀를 도왔다.
En: People around her quickly rushed to help her.

Ko: 그날 이후, 지수는 고민 끝에 결심을 했다.
En: After that day, Jisoo made a decision after much thought.

Ko: "난 나의 건강이 더 중요해.
En: "My health is more important.

Ko: 하지만 팀을 위해 내가 할 수 있는 방법이 있어."
En: But there is a way I can still contribute to the team."

Ko: 지수는 팀의 매니저 역할을 맡기로 했다.
En: Jisoo decided to take on the role of the team's manager.

Ko: 그녀는 스케줄을 관리하고, 팀원들에게 필요한 것들을 챙겨준다.
En: She managed schedules and took care of what the team members needed.

Ko: 처음에는 조금 아쉬웠지만, 차츰 팀에 큰 도움이 되는 것을 느꼈다.
