  • Ep. 14 3 Tips to Manage Empathy | Narcissist and Empath Connection

If you've found your way here, perhaps you've been in a relationship with a narcissist and heard through the grapevine that you may be what's called an empath. But what exactly does that mean? And more importantly, what do you do with this information?

An empath is someone who by nature can easily put themselves in another's shoes. They're adept at reading others, even reading emotions in a way that interprets what's not being said. They're sympathetic, caring, oftentimes generous with time, and believe in the good of other people. They believe people are genuine and want to help others succeed.

The narcissist looks to the empath to keep a constant level of supply coming on a conveyor belt to provide validation and energy, while the empath is looking for the love and support that attracted them toward the narcissist in the beginning. The narcissist engaged in love bombing to hook in their target, and the empath was enamored by it. But when accountability came knocking and the relationship rapidly declined, other forms of manipulation and devaluing were needed to keep things progressing.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • How to listen to your intuition and detect love bombing as a red flag
    • Why exercising boundaries early makes narcissists uncomfortable (and what they'll do to get you to overstep them)
    • How to keep yourself number one when empathy is your second nature
    • Why narcissists extract energy without replacing it back into the relationship

Empathy is a great skill to have and express, but many people are on the lookout to take advantage of it. They will appear genuinely interested in you, but many times are takers who do not have your best interest at heart. Your intuition is there to protect and guide you, but sometimes empaths choose to override it, thinking they know better.

If you're an empath who's been told you're too sensitive, if you keep ending up in relationships where you give everything and get nothing back, or if you're ready to protect your gift while still being true to who you are, this episode shows you how to manage empathy with wisdom and boundaries.

  • Ep. 13 One Powerful Benefit of Silence after Narcissistic Abuse

When in a relationship with a narcissist, silence becomes the unspoken rule. The abused learns what they can do and not do, say and not say, and over time are conditioned into abiding by the rules as a learned behavior and as part of an established and acceptable method of relationship.

Silence becomes acceptable. Silence is favored. Silence keeps the abuse intact.

A narcissist will not tell you to be silent about their abuse. They will be adept in setting up circumstances in which you will have to deem for yourself that it is best as a matter of survival within the concept of the relationship (if you wish for it to remain intact) to be silent. If you share too much with someone outside the network, a threat will occur, or another form of malicious abuse will be set up on the inside to train you not to speak or share again about what is occurring.

You're conditioned to not speak up, not to share with close friends or anyone for that matter. You remain in a silent bubble that is oftentimes filled with fear. Over time, your perceptions change and you adapt to the messages you hear covertly.

    In this episode, you'll discover:

    • How narcissists groom their targets for silence without ever directly demanding it
    • Why fear is one of the greatest tactics to control the dissemination of information
    • The flip that occurs when you redirect your loyalty away from the abuser
    • How choosing silence toward your abuser (no contact) becomes personal empowerment

No longer does the survivor have loyalty to the abuser to remain silent through the conditioning and grooming. The survivor can then choose to go no contact and be silent toward their abuser. It's the redirection of loyalty. The survivor changes from being silenced to now gaining their voice, and then being empowered to choose to be silent (no contact) toward the abuser.

If you've been silenced in your relationship, if you're tired of living in a bubble of fear, or if you're ready to understand how silence can transform from a weapon used against you into your greatest act of self preservation, this episode reveals the powerful benefit you never saw coming.

  • Ep. 12 7 Stages of Grief after Narcissistic Abuse

Does grief and loss occur after narcissistic abuse?

Grieving after narcissistic abuse isn’t linear—and it doesn’t follow the traditional five stages. In this episode, we walk through the seven distinct stages survivors often experience after going no contact or waking up to the truth of what they’ve endured.

    We explore:

    • The shock of absolute devastation when the truth finally clicks
    • How denial and self-doubt creep in, even after the wake-up call
    • Why the education phase is both empowering and overwhelming
    • The role of anger—and why it’s not only justified, but necessary
    • How depression shows up as your nervous system begins to decompress
    • What healing and validation look like when you finally feel seen
    • The deep work of self-discovery—and how it changes everything going forward

This episode is for anyone who’s ever wondered, “Why am I still feeling this way?” or “Is this normal?” If you’ve been cycling through emotions that don’t make sense on paper, this conversation will help you name what’s happening—and remind you that healing isn’t a straight line.

  • Ep. 11 What Does a Narcissist Need?

A narcissist seeks supply, attention in any way, shape, or form for sustenance to live. It's like the air they breathe, like pervasive tree roots looking for water to survive. Tree roots will stretch far and wide to get what they need to survive, even sometimes under homes.

The tree doesn't care that it may cause damage. It will plow on through to get what it needs. In the same way, a narcissist searches and seeks this survival sustenance (supply), reaching in all directions to accomplish this task at whatever cost.

In this episode, you'll uncover the six things narcissists desperately seek:

    • Undying devotion and trust (they need to come first, even at the cost of your personal goals and aspirations)
    • Constant admiration (they're seeking to be worshiped as the ultimate authority and know all in your life)
    • Power and control (they overpower you from different angles all at the same time so you'll need them more and more)
    • Value and importance (they tell stories to inflate themselves and provide support for their fragile ego)
    • Your reaction (after they abuse you, they receive glory knowing they were powerful enough to cause you distress)
    • Silence (they teach you not to speak out, or there will be hell to pay)

A narcissist shares stories from their past all for you to gain respect, trust, and admiration in exchange for your relentless allegiance. They need you to be on their side to the eventual cost of your personal goals. They want this extreme devotion to pale in comparison with every other priority in your life. They seek you to defend them even if they're wrong with absolute unwavering devotion.

Learning what a narcissist needs to survive can be eye opening and can shape a new beginning to recognize abusive behaviors and allow the truth of the matter to shine forth. If you've ever wondered what drives their behavior, if you're questioning why they need so much from you, or if you're ready to understand the mechanics behind their relentless pursuit, this episode breaks down exactly what they're after and why.

  • Ep. 10 3 CHANGES After Going No Contact

I moved on. I felt the pain again, understood and grieved it deep within my heart and realized the impact. The earth stood still for a split second, shock in the moment, as I digested this and from there I decided to move on with my life. It has been the largest healing adventure of my life.

It was going to be my life now. I wasn't going to live to please or put others' wishes, wants, and desires above my own pursuits. It was like my heart was fractured for the last time. It was broken in so many pieces, but they say when healed it's stronger than before the break. I believe this to be true. Strong, yet so weak at times.

I needed to be more concerned with my greatest passions, desires, and strengths than the vision of what others have for me and their self pleasing mission. I had to get off the hamster wheel of performance.

In this episode, you'll discover four powerful changes that happen after no contact:

    • The peace that comes from quiet existence (no loud arguing, no vying to be understood, no being left out, put down, questioned, or discredited)
    • The freedom to choose your own race and outcome without looking left or right
    • How holidays transform when you make your own plans and do what feeds your soul
    • Embracing your mission outside of society's "normal" box

The reason no contact is so powerful is that when we are emotionally abused, we are taught we are never enough, subtly of course and sometimes blatantly, and we hear it so often we believe it. When we realize this is a lie, we are set free. We can be who we are truly meant to be.

The silence now is sustaining and its beauty breathes into the soul. It clears the head and re centers you and you re align with your objectives. It invigorates you and you make plans to pursue your dreams. It brings an inner smile to the heart and you are refreshed.

If you're wondering whether you can actually go no contact, if you're afraid of what life will look like on the other side, or if you need to hear from someone who's walking this brave path and discovering extraordinary freedom, this episode shows you what's possible when you choose yourself.

  • Ep. 9 From Doing More to Being More After Narcissistic Abuse

When you’re in a relationship with a narcissistic abuser, you’re often taught—subtly and systematically—that you’re never enough. No matter how hard you try or how well you perform, the bar keeps moving. The goalposts shift. And you’re left running harder, faster, and emptier.

In this episode, we explore the exhausting cycle of performance that narcissistic abuse creates—and how to shift from constantly doing more to finally being more.

    We unpack:

    • How narcissists condition you to believe your worth is tied to performance
    • Why the love-bombing stage sets the trap for a lifetime of over-functioning
    • The emotional and physical toll of chasing validation that never comes
    • What it means to recognize the pattern—and why the target was never meant to be reached
    • How to shift from external approval to internal truth
    • Why being more—not doing more—is the path to healing and self-worth

This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt like they were sprinting toward a finish line that keeps disappearing. If you’ve been told—directly or covertly—that you’re not enough, this conversation will help you name the lie and reclaim your value.

  • Ep. 4 4 Reasons Why Narcissists Ignore You

When a narcissist ignores you, it’s never random. In this episode of the Moving Forward with Hope – Narcissistic Abuse Recovery podcast, we look at how narcissists deliberately use silence as a manipulation tactic to provoke a reaction and regain control.

    We examine:

    • How they ignore you to provoke a response, not because they’re unaware of your needs
    • Why they use withdrawal to create confusion and chaos, keeping you emotionally unstable
    • The way this silence is meant to make you feel "needy" or "clingy", shifting blame onto you
    • How ignoring is used to test loyalty, escalate manipulation, or avoid accountability
When a narcissist refuses to reply, walks away without a word, or stonewalls with dismissiveness, it leaves you chasing closure while they reclaim power.

How to Detect Red Flags in a Relationship - Part 1

It is estimated 158 million people in the U.S. are affected by narcissistic abuse, and an estimated 6 percent have narcissistic personality disorder. The numbers are staggering, and it’s likely either you know someone who has the characteristics of NPD, and may be suffering from the implications of the disorder.

One day it becomes clear. We can see through it all like we never were able to before. We see the manipulation, the lies, the triangulation, gas-lighting and the deliberate ways the narcissist will twist conversations, events, stories to suit their need for narcissistic supply. Clear as day. We see it and the fog has lifted.
