Story Transcript:

It: Era una splendida giornata di sole a Roma e Marco era felice di poter visitare la città.
En: It was a beautiful sunny day in Rome and Marco was happy to be able to visit the city.

It: Si trovava nella bellissima Piazza Navona, circondato da fontane e sculture meravigliose.
En: It was located in the beautiful Piazza Navona, surrounded by wonderful fountains and sculptures.

It: Mentre camminava ammirando il panorama, decise di comprare un gelato delizioso a forma di cono.
En: While walking around admiring the view, he decided to buy a delicious ice cream cone.

It: Ma appena lo prese in mano, il gelato scivolò fuori dal cono e cadde sulla sua maglietta bianca.
En: But as he picked it up, the ice cream slid out of the cone and landed on his white T-shirt.

It: Marco cercò disperatamente di pulirsi, ma il gelato era già troppo appiccicoso.
En: Marco desperately tried to clean himself, but the ice cream was already too sticky.

It: Poi, ad un tratto, il terreno sotto ai piedi di Marco si rivelò scivoloso e, improvvisamente, cadde nella fontana con un "Plumf!".
En: Then, all of a sudden, the ground under Marco's feet proved slippery and, suddenly, he fell into the fountain with a "Plumf!".

It: Marco era completamente immerso nell'acqua gelida della fontana, vestito e impacciato.
En: Marco was completely immersed in the icy water of the fountain, dressed and awkward.

It: La gente che si trovava sulla piazza iniziò a ridere, facendo cadere Marco nella disperazione.
En: The people who were in the square began to laugh, making Marco fall into despair.

It: Non riusciva a uscire dalla fontana, completamente fradicio.
En: He couldn't get out of the fountain, completely soaked.

It: Dopo alcuni minuti, finalmente, un poliziotto corse a salvarlo.
En: After a few minutes, finally, a policeman ran to save him.

It: Gli tendette la mano, tirandolo fuori dalla fontana dicendogli: "State attento per la prossima volta, giovane uomo!".
En: He held out his hand, pulling him out of the fountain saying: "Be careful next time, young man!".

It: Marco se ne andò dalla piazza, con la maglietta penzolante e i pantaloni bagnati, sconfitto e umiliato.
En: Marco left the square, with his shirt dangling and his pants wet, defeated and humiliated.

It: Ma poi, quando tornò a casa, decise che la sua esperienza non era stata poi così brutta.
En: But then, when she got home, she decided her experience hadn't been all that bad.

It: Aveva notato molte cose meravigliose sulla piazza e aveva anche imparato una lezione importante: mai arrendersi e non prendersi troppo sul serio.
En: He had noticed many wonderful things about the square and had also learned an important lesson: never give up and don't take yourself too seriously.

It: Così decise che un po' di gelato appiccicoso e una caduta imbarazzante erano un prezzo troppo piccolo da pagare per un'esperienza indimenticabile nella bellissima città di Roma.
En: So he decided that some gooey ice cream and an embarrassing fall was too small a price to pay for an unforgettable experience in the beautiful city of Rome.
