Story Transcript:

En: Spring flooded Roma with a sweet scent of flowers, and a light breeze caressed Piazza di Spagna.

En: The Spanish Steps were covered with seasonal flowers; roses, tulips, and daisies shone under the Easter sun.

En: The square was full of tourists, some taking photos, others enjoying a gelato under the Roman sun.

En: Among all these people, Giulia stopped at the foot of the steps.

En: Giulia was an art artist, an exhibition curator, in the city for an important conference.

En: Roma called her every spring, but this time she had another reason to return.

En: She held a leather bag in her hands, the memory of years spent searching for answers.

It: Dario era lì, a pochi passi da lei.
En: Dario was there, a few steps away from her.

En: A smile lit up his face when he saw her.

It: Un riconoscimento immediato dopo quasi un decennio.
En: An immediate recognition after almost a decade.

It: Lui, adesso una guida turistica, raccontava Roma con passione.
En: He, now a tour guide, told stories of Roma with passion.

En: Giulia remembered well, that love he had for the city, and couldn't help but smile, albeit hesitantly.

It: “Giulia,” disse lui, avvicinandosi.
En: "Giulia," he said, approaching her.

It: “Da quanto tempo…”
En: "It's been a long time..."

It: “Sì, tanto tempo,” rispose Giulia, guardando intensamente le scalinate.
En: "Yes, a long time," Giulia replied, intently looking at the steps.

It: La loro ultima volta lì, insieme, risaliva a molti anni fa.
En: Their last time there together was many years ago.

En: Back then, their love was young and passionate.

En: They sat on a nearby bench, the people around them forming just a background noise.

En: Dario talked about the past, how he had wanted to see her again, how he still thought of her.

En: Giulia listened, her heart torn between wanting to start over and the desire to close the chapter on the past.

En: "I'm not the same as before," said Giulia, looking at the blue sky for strength.

It: “Lo so,” rispose Dario.
En: "I know," Dario replied.

It: “Neanche io. Ho imparato dai miei errori. Voglio dimostrarti… merito un’altra chance.”
En: "Neither am I. I've learned from my mistakes. I want to show you... I deserve another chance."

It: Giulia pensava a quanto si fosse arrabbiata in passato, a quante lacrime aveva versato.
En: Giulia thought about how angry she had been in the past, about how many tears she had shed.

It: Non era sicura di poter rivivere tutto quello.
En: She wasn't sure she could relive all of that.

En: But she also felt that words buried for years were trying to come out.

En: "Why was it so difficult?" she asked, her voice trembling.

It: Dario abbassò lo sguardo.
En: Dario lowered his gaze.

It: “Ero giovane, egoista. Non capivo quanto fossi importante. È stato un errore.”
En: "I was young, selfish. I didn't understand how important you were. It was a mistake."

It: Quelle parole pesarono meno del previsto.
En: Those words weighed less than expected.

En: Giulia looked around, the steps, the happy people on vacation.

En: She found a peace she didn't expect.

En: Aware that she finally received the answer she had been searching for a long time.

En: "You know, I think we both need a fresh start, even if separately," said Giulia with a hint of a smile.

It: “Non ti rancoro più, Dario.”
En: "I don't hold a grudge against you anymore, Dario."

It: Lui annuì lentamente, accettando.
En: He nodded slowly, accepting.

It: “Va bene. Mi auguro il meglio per te, Giulia.”
En: "Alright. I wish you the best, Giulia."

It: Si alzarono, camminando fianco a fianco verso il centro delle scalinate.
En: They got up, walking side by side towards the center of the steps.

It: L’addio fu dolce, senza rimpianti.
En: The farewell was sweet, without regrets.

En: Giulia finally felt able to turn the page, to start a new chapter.

En: The square was still full of life, and as Giulia walked away, a sweet sensation of freedom accompanied her.

En: Dario remained silent, watching his love from the past, realizing that he could look forward, finally at peace.

It: La primavera a Roma era sempre un nuovo inizio.
En: Spring in Roma was always a new beginning.

It: Per tutti.
En: For everyone.
