Story Transcript:

Da: Solen skinnede igennem de brede vinduer i det store familiehjem.
En: The sun shone through the wide windows of the large familihome.

En: Summer air streamed in freshly, and the scent of blooming flowers filled the room.

En: Inside the living room, a large old vase stood on a table.

Da: Den var dyrebar.
En: It was precious.

En: Mikkel knew this because his grandmother had repeatedly told stories about the vase that had survived multiple generations.

En: Mikkel walked around and lightly dusted the furniture, always meticulous with his tasks.

Da: Han kiggede nervøst på vasen.
En: He looked nervously at the vase.

En: Suddenly, he heard a giggle behind him.

Da: Det var Astrid.
En: It was Astrid.

En: "Astrid, we have to be careful with the vase," warned Mikkel with a hint too much seriousness in his voice.

En: But Astrid just jumped to the window and shouted, "Look Mikkel, a squirrel!"

En: A small, brown squirrel darted in and out of the garden.

En: Astrid couldn't resist opening the window a little more.

En: The squirrel immediately saw its chance and jumped into the room.

En: It was quick, and before anyone could stop it, it disappeared towards the vase.

Da: Det skrabede hurtigt nogle nødder frem og begyndte at skubbe dem ind i vasen.
En: It quickly scraped out some nuts and began to shove them into the vase.

Da: "Astrid!
En: "Astrid!

Da: Hvad laver du?!"
En: What are you doing?!"

En: Mikkel reached out for the squirrel, but it was too late.

Da: "Vi må få det ud!"
En: "We have to get it out!"

Da: sagde han desperat.
En: he said desperately.

En: Astrid thought quickly, "Let's use the nuts as bait!

En: We can lead it back out into the garden."

Da: Mikkel så først skeptisk ud, men nikkede så.
En: Mikkel looked skeptical at first but then nodded.

Da: Det var deres bedste mulighed.
En: It was their best option.

En: With caution, they took some of the nuts from the vase and made a small trail towards the door.

Da: Egernet fulgte nødderne, men besluttede sig for at tage en tur rundt i det store hus først.
En: The squirrel followed the nuts but decided to take a tour around the large house first.

En: The next minutes were filled with shouts and laughter, as Mikkel chased the squirrel around the furniture, while Astrid clapped her hands in excitement.

En: Finally, with a clever wave of a cushion from the sofa, Mikkel managed to usher it out the door.

Da: De lukkede hurtigt døren bag det.
En: They quickly closed the door behind it.

Da: Mikkel tørrede panden, lettet.
En: Mikkel wiped his forehead, relieved.

En: Astrid went over to him and patted him on the shoulder.

Da: "Det var ikke så slemt, vel?"
En: "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

Da: smilede hun.
En: she smiled.

Da: I det samme øjeblik trådte deres bedstemor ind i stuen.
En: At that moment, their grandmother stepped into the living room.

Da: Mikkel og Astrid skiftede blikke.
En: Mikkel and Astrid exchanged glances.

En: The vase's sheen still shone intact on the table, and grandmother noticed nothing.

Da: "Har I hygget jer i dag?"
En: "Did you have fun today?"

Da: spurgte hun.
En: she asked.

En: "More than ever," replied Mikkel with a new twinkle in his eye.

En: He had learned that not everything had to be perfect, and Astrid realized that sometimes you had to take responsibility.

Da: De smilede til hinanden, lettede over at have fået løst deres lille eventyr sammen.
En: They smiled at each other, relieved to have solved their little adventure together.
