Ja: 夜が織り成す黒橡のベールを遠くに擁する東京の街。そこで週末の夜はゆきが舞う。
En: In the city of Tokyo, which is embraced by the distant veil of black oak woven by the night, snow dances on weekend nights.

Ja: 私の名前はゆき、そう雪ではなく、文字通りの名前「ゆき」。私は東京のど真ん中に住んでいて、今夜は大きなイベントに出席することになっている。
En: My name is Yuki, not literally "snow" but spelled and pronounced the same way. I live right in the heart of Tokyo and tonight, I am attending a big event.

Ja: まばゆい夜景が車の窓から見える。私は回転寿司のようにくるくると廻る心臓を鎮めるために、イベント会場の駐車場に座っていた。新しいドレスとヒール、そして確認したはずの合わせ靴下。でも、恐ろしいことに、一瞥した足元は緑と赤のストライプの靴下だった。
En: The dazzling night view is visible through the car window. To calm my heart, which is swirling like a conveyor belt at a sushi restaurant, I sit in the event venue's parking lot. I have a new dress and heels, and I thought I had confirmed the matching socks. But to my horror, the glimpse I took revealed green and red striped socks.

Ja: 思案しつつゆきは自分のマントをくるりと巻いて靴下を隠した。靴もマントの中。これで何とかできる。とりあえず何事も無かったように会場に戻った。
En: While pondering, Yuki wraps her cape around herself, hiding the socks. The shoes are also inside the cape. With this, I can somehow make it. For now, I returned to the venue as if nothing had happened.

Ja: 夕食が始まるとゆきの周りは夢中で話している人ばかりだった。人々は自分の靴下に気付かない。
En: During dinner, everyone around Yuki was engrossed in their conversations. People didn't notice their socks.

Ja: 終わり良ければ全て良し、とは言うものの、ゆきはその笑顔の裏で何とも言えぬ心細さを感じていた。
En: All's well that ends well, they say, but Yuki felt a sense of unease behind those smiles.

Ja: しかし、最後の最後で奇跡がおきた。司会者がみんなに発表した。
En: However, a miracle happened at the very end. The host announced to everyone.

Ja: 「本日のイベントのハイライトは、皆さんのお気に入りの靴下を見せることです！」
En: "The highlight of today's event is showing everyone your favorite socks!"

Ja: ゆきは驚き、そして喜びに包まれた。最悪だと思っていた靴下が、思いがけず彼女をパーティーでユニークな存在にしてくれたのだ。他の人々からは必死に探し好意的なコメントをもらい、ゆきはその夜、一層きらめいた瞳で帰路についた。
En: Yuki was surprised and filled with joy. The socks that she thought were the worst unexpectedly made her a unique presence at the party. She received desperate compliments and kind comments from other people, and that night Yuki returned home with even brighter eyes.
