Story Transcript:

En: In the quiet afternoon in the locked school in the cozy neighborhood, the light autumn breezes moved the colorful leaves over the paths.

En: The children had cut paper leaves in every shade of red and yellow, which now hung in the classroom windows.

Da: Indenfor ventede Astrid på dagens sidste forældre-lærer-samtale.
En: Inside, Astrid waited for the day's last parent-teacher meeting.

En: Niels entered with nervous energy and anxiously adjusted his tie.

Da: Han kiggede rundt og mærkede roen i klasseværelset.
En: He looked around and felt the calmness in the classroom.

Da: Hans egen skolegang havde været anderledes.
En: His own school days had been different.

Da: Han havde altid ønsket mere for sin egen søn, så denne aften var vigtig for ham.
En: He had always wanted more for his own son, so this evening was important to him.

En: "Hi, Niels," said Astrid warmly, gesturing towards a chair.

Da: “Hvordan går det?
En: "How are you?"

Da: ”Niels satte sig forsigtigt.
En: Niels sat down carefully.

Da: “Hej, Astrid.
En: "Hi, Astrid.

Da: Jeg håber, at Johannes klarer sig godt.
En: I hope Johannes is doing well.

Da: Jeg vil høre om hans præstationer.
En: I want to hear about his performance."

Da: ”Astrid smilede.
En: Astrid smiled.

Da: “Johannes er en vidunderlig elev.
En: "Johannes is a wonderful student.

Da: Han mestrer sine lektier glimrende.
En: He excels at his homework."

Da: ” Hun holdt en pause.
En: She paused.

En: "But, Niels, I have noticed something special in him."

Da: ”Niels rykkede lidt tættere.
En: Niels moved a little closer.

En: "His creativity really shines when he paints and writes little stories.

Da: Han ser ud til at nyde det meget.
En: He seems to enjoy it a lot."

Da: ”Niels tænkte over Astrids ord.
En: Niels thought about Astrid's words.

En: He had always focused on the academic subjects.

Da: “Jeg forstår,” sagde han forsigtigt.
En: "I understand," he said cautiously.

Da: “Jeg vil gerne sikre, at han har mange muligheder.
En: "I want to ensure he has many opportunities.

Da: Men han skal også have topkarakterer.
En: But he also needs to get top grades."

Da: ”Astrid nikkede forstående.
En: Astrid nodded understandingly.

Da: “Det er vigtigt.
En: "That's important.

En: But perhaps we can support him in both the academic and the creative.

Da: Balancen kunne være gavnlig.
En: The balance could be beneficial."

Da: ”Midt i stilheden reflekterede Niels.
En: In the midst of the silence, Niels reflected.

En: Should he change the plans he had made?

Da: Tankerne fløj gennem hans sind.
En: Thoughts flew through his mind.

En: Johannes' smile when he talked about his painted pictures at home.

En: Maybe it was time to consider something different.

Da: “Du har ret,” sagde Niels endelig.
En: "You are right," Niels finally said.

En: "I will talk to him tonight.

Da: Måske er der rum for begge dele.
En: Maybe there's room for both."

Da: ”Astrids smil blev bredere.
En: Astrid's smile widened.

Da: “Det tror jeg vil gøre ham glad.
En: "I think that will make him happy."

Da: ”Efter mødet gik Niels ud igen.
En: After the meeting, Niels went out again.

En: Leaves rustled under his feet, and he noticed the beauty in the colors, which he had previously overlooked.

En: On the way home, he thought about new activities he could suggest to Johannes.

En: For the first time, he saw the possibilities for his son in a new light.

En: It wasn't just grades that defined success.

En: Johannes' joy and growth were the most important.

En: Niels knew he needed to find a path that included everything his son loves, instead of only what he thought was best.

En: Astrid had shown him a new side of Johannes, which he hadn't noticed himself.

En: And that made the future for his son much brighter and more hopeful.
