Da: På en kølig høstaften i København kiggede Lars på sin ven Sofie.
En: On a cool autumn evening in Copenhagen, Lars looked at his friend Sofie.

Da: Sofie var fra Australien.
En: Sofie was from Australia.

Da: Hun var forvirret.
En: She was confused.

Da: Hun kunne ikke forstå ordet 'hygge'.
En: She couldn't understand the word 'hygge'.

Da: Lars besluttede sig for at lære hende det.
En: Lars decided to teach her about it.

Da: Først tog de begge på café.
En: First, they both went to a café.

Da: Caféen var hyggelig.
En: The café was cozy.

Da: Der var tændte lys.
En: There were lit candles.

Da: De sad ved et lille bord.
En: They sat at a small table.

Da: " spurgte Sofie.

En: The streets were quiet.

En: Yellow leaves were falling from the trees.

Da: Der var også duften af nybagt brød.
En: There was also the smell of freshly baked bread.

Da: "Er dette hygge?
En: "Is this hygge?"

Da: " spurgte Sofie igen.
En: Sofie asked again.

Da: "Ja, men der er mere," sagde Lars med et smil.
En: "Yes, but there's more to it," Lars said with a smile.

Da: Til sidst tog Lars hende hjem til sig.

Da: " spurgte Sofie for sidste gang.
En: Sofie asked for the last time.

Da: "Ja," svarede Lars, "dette er hygge.
En: "Yes," Lars replied, "this is hygge."

Da: " Sofie nikkede.
En: Sofie nodded.

Da: Hun smilede bredt.
En: She smiled widely.

Da: Hun forstod endelig, hvad hygge var.
En: She finally understood what hygge was.

Da: Det var ikke kun om at være varm og behagelig.
