Story Transcript:

En: It was a winter day, and the snow gently covered the ground outside the local polling station.

En: Inside the community hall, the atmosphere was warm and expectant.

Da: Folk stod i kø, godt pakket ind i deres vinterjakker og halstørklæder, mens eventyrlyset glitrede langs væggene i anledning af julen.
En: People stood in line, well wrapped in their winter jackets and scarves, while the festive lights glimmered along the walls in celebration of Christmas.

En: Søren stood in line, looking around and listening to the sound of muted conversation and occasional bursts of laughter.

Da: Det var vigtigt for ham at stemme.
En: It was important for him to vote.

En: He felt a strong obligation to do his part as a citizen.

En: But today he felt different.

En: An inexplicable dizziness washed over him, and he grabbed the nearest post to steady himself.

En: It was Freja, his neighbor, who had noticed him.

En: She had a keen ability to observe people, and she immediately saw that something was off.

En: She went over to him and gently said, "Hey Søren, you don't look well.

Da: Er du okay?"
En: Are you okay?"

En: Søren forced himself to smile and replied, "I'm fine, thanks.

Da: Bare lidt træt," men hans hvide ansigt forrådte ham.
En: Just a bit tired," but his pale face betrayed him.

Da: Freja tøvede ikke med at fortsætte.
En: Freja did not hesitate to continue.

Da: "Lad mig hjælpe dig.
En: "Let me help you.

Da: Du behøver ikke gøre det alene."
En: You don't have to do it alone."

En: He was stubborn and did not want to draw attention to himself.

En: But as the dizziness worsened and he staggered, he reluctantly accepted her offer.

En: "Okay, maybe a little help would be good," he said quietly.

En: As they approached the voting booth, Søren became more dizzy.

Da: Han kunne næsten ikke stå oprejst.
En: He could barely stand upright.

En: As he was about to fall, Freja firmly grasped his arm and led him to a nearby chair.

Da: "Sid ned og hvile, Søren.
En: "Sit down and rest, Søren.

En: I'll go with you when you feel better."

En: Freja's kindness and determination ultimately helped Søren complete his voting.

En: Afterwards, with her persuasion, he agreed to take a trip to the clinic.

En: "It's important to take care of yourself," said Freja as they walked together.

Da: Efter lægetjekket følte Søren sig lettet.
En: After the medical check-up, Søren felt relieved.

En: The results were not serious, but the doctors gave him clear advice.

En: With Freja's help, he had not only voted but also taken an important step for his health.

En: From that day on, Søren began to understand the importance of confronting his health concerns directly, and he became more open to accepting help from those around him.

En: The atmosphere at the polling station had reminded him of the value of community—a gift that, like Christmas, was about standing together and taking care of one another.
