Nothing more exciting than meeting new people, hearing their stories, and being inspired. (访谈7:00开始)Lily: Hello. You're listening to Fly with Lily. Now I'm sitting here with Bella, my friend. Actually I met her quite unexpectedly in Guatemala during these day. I'm still in San Pedro. She left. She left me here but I just find her quite special. At first when I met her it was the feeling of starstruck, if you know what I mean, is like, oh I'm meeting a movie star. Because my friend Brian was introducing her before I met her and I was just like, oh, I'm quite nervous about meeting her. And finally I met her. She's really friendly, a little bit goofy and I really like her, although she left me, but I just think she's amazing woman doing what she loves and she's helping a lot of people with her skill, which we are going to talk about a little bit. So now I'm going to bring her here and then to interview from her point of view. So Bella, how do we meet? Exactly. And then what was the first meeting? What was the first impression?你好。你正在听 Fly with Lily。 Bella: Hi Lily. Well, first of all, I was very excited to meet you because I love your energy and I felt like we were kindred spirits. Maybe we live together in a past life as sisters or something . But it was an instant connection and it was a very interesting way that we met because I actually met your roommate who was also your “hermano” which is you called your brother. (Hermano这里是西语指弟兄的意思)Lily: Yeah, my brother from another mother. Bella: You guys were a little “la familia” there. We met because I had met Brian the day before at a dance party in the jungle. And it was a very interesting to say the least type of dance party. It was a little creepy. Go outright and say . It was, I'm a very spiritual person. I go to a lot of these spiritual events. But this one in particular, the vibes were very off and they were making us do some weird things called contact dance where we had to touch each other and stare into each other's eyes with strangers. And some of the people there were a little off, a little weird and I did not wanna stare into their eyes. But I did it for a minute and then I walked away and I was like, this is not for me. I'm not touching these people.I don't wanna do this. And Brian was there and he was actually the most normal one at the party. So he kind of sat with me and made me feel better. And he offered to walk me back down to the dock because you have to take a boat to go everywhere in Lake Atitlan. So I walked with Brian and we really connected. He, he's a really awesome guy. He's a great dancer and we had so much fun and we just had this instant connection and I knew he was gonna be a long time friend right off the bat. And he was kind of my hero that night because I felt like I was in this strange country, this country very far away from home by myself. Didn't really know the language, didn't know anyone. It was my first time doing something like that and I felt like Brian came in an angel to rescue me from this weird party that I of course ended up at because I'm quite adventurous. But I've been lucky. I feel like I always have guardian angels around me and I think Brian was one of them.

“The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” — Ludwig Wittgenstein. Phil:Thank you very much everyone for listening to this podcast and to my sweet voice. All the questions I've been answering on this one are questions that you actually could answer to yourself and share with friends. They're all about personal development, and I think everyone deserves to talk about this together. I mean, it helps you grow as a person as well. The language right now being in a Latin American country, of course the main language is Spanish. I learned Spanish a few years ago, actually, it was in 2020. I've been privileged because I'm French, it's easier for me. So I learned it in three months and a half, then practised a lot with friends, girlfriend and whatever. So to me, learning a new language when you travel, learning the local language is extremely important because it helps you to connect on a deeper level with the people that are in the place. This will lead you to get adventure that you wouldn't have lived otherwise. It'll help you to communicate better with the people, and as I said, just to connect in a deeper level and to have a better understanding of who they are and how they live. So now you heard a couple of lines of my personal story. Of course, if some of you wanted to get in touch with me, it's more than possible. So as a Western person, I have Instagram. So my Instagram is Phil Marshall, so P H I L, double underscore. Marshall, so m a r s h a l;. And if you do not have Instagram that's completely fine, and I will give you my email address. Are you ready? Because it's gonna be tough. p h i l dot m a r s h dot 97 at gmail.com. I created this email address about 10 years ago, thinking that it would be a trash email address and not on purpose. It became my primary email address. So I was like, oops. So now I have to spell it every time like this. I'm sorry for the pain, but that's my email address. If you go on to get in touch with me, I'm more than happy to speak with you. Thank you for listening to me, and I hope you have a good day, life, night, whatever. Wish you all the best. Thank you. 所以我的 Instagram 是 Phil Marshall,所以 P H I L,两个下划线 Marshall,so m-a-r-s-h-a-l-l。

If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance. Create a phrase or statement that describes this past year for you. 1) I think that when you grow up, at some point, some of us, if you're lucky enough, you can have a passion that you build over the years, and in my case, I decided to do absolutely what I love to do in my life. I really wanted to have my passion as my job since I was 14, and it took me a long time to actually find in which direction I wanted to go to follow my passion. First it was IT, then I hated it. Then I went into music. It was incredible. It was the first time I was actually doing something I loved the most, and then I went into video making. 2) After 10 years from now, I'm 25, crazy to say it's been 10 years already, but it has been that long. I ended up in this situation where I actually had the savings to actually try something quite big or go the safe way. And the thing is, at some point you have the choice, you can go the safe way. You know what's gonna happen, you can guess pretty much the next few years, but this will come with a lot of frustration, a lot of sadness, and then you always say, oh, ala, I really wish I was this guy. 3) The thing is, if you feel like this, nah, that's not good. I prefer to take the risk. I know that my personal mentality is as soon as I breathe, there is hope. So even if it's baby steps, you have to do baby steps, but you have to keep working until you make it. And I was at this phase of my life where I lost my dream job. Now I have to create my dream job, so I'm going to put everything I have as a result of this. I am at the half of my trip already. I'm already a couple of thousands in debt, but I don't really care because I'm like, well, now it's basically either you it or die, basically. But I know that as soon as I breathe, I'm alive. So there's always hope. Lily: To create a better future is to live the present moment to the fullest.

Learning never exhausts the mind. What was the biggest thing you learned this past year? Philip (22:29)1)Over this last year, I had a lot of life lessons, literally a lot as much in my personal life as in my professional life. One example I will give as the biggest thing I learned is hit the road with the motorbike without experience. Yes. I'm going to tell you quick story time. Let's have a quick story time. I was in Columbia for two months. I had a break on my trip, and the point in this break was to do some editing to plan for the rest of the trip, spending a bit of time with my girlfriend as well but really focusing on the next part of the trip. So there was this guy in France that did France to India with the motorbike. He made the YouTube series on this, and this really inspired me to do a YouTube series on the motorbike as well. And I was like, I really want to do this one day. 2)So I decided to look at least how it works to get the driving license for the motorbike. I can already drive a car or how it is for a motorbike, and I could get a very cheap license in two days of motorbike. So I did my license and at the same time I was doing my license. The same guy that did France to India was selling his motorbike in Los Angeles, said like, oh my god. And it was like 1000, the price of the bike. I was like, oh no, this is actually going to cost me the same price as getting on planes all around, so might as well get the motorbike. This will just add some spice to my adventure. Yeah, it didn't bring me spice, it brought me almost death. So I basically I was like, okay, let's get this motorbike and do all Central America with this motorbike. Let's see what happens. This was the best, the worst, the scariest, the most stupid and the most genius decision I've made on my trip because the motorbike is actually about 500 kilos. 3)And yeah, when you've never been on a motorbike before, it's a very difficult to go through the desert through very slippery places in a lot of different yeah, I mean in lots of different, basically this motorbike fell down about 20 times when I was trying to park the bike or whatever. I don't know how to use balance the bike, so I look on the right, I fall on the right. That's how it happens. Now I know that I have to look in front of me. I didn't know it is before. I had to fall down five times to understand that I had to look in front of me. So this was literally the biggest thing I've learned was how to ride a motorbike and in a couple of words. The other things, the other thing I really learned this year, which I think is with a motorbike, that the most important learning experience over the last month was how to travel alone. How to travel alone and peacefully. Lily:I learnt to accept the things that I couldn’t change. For example, my dad’s death and relationships that couldn’t be salvaged.

I've been always in this mentality all the time of course, working, taking breaks, working like this. But the home activity this year was how can I become a professional content creator? And I've been working all the year on this so far, and until the end of the year and even next year probably. Lily:After the passing of my dad, I invested a lot of time into traveling, and spent more time reading and listening to self-development materials.

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasting time. What was your single biggest time waster in your life this past year? Philip: (4:03)There is none. Honestly. There is none. I feel like I'm at a point with my project right now with my trip where I know that I will go home and I will be like, I know that at that moment in my life, I could not have done better. I did everything I could to be as good as I could. I could not have done better with the level I had with the mindset I have and everything else. So there was no time wasting. It was like all productive for this one single objective. Lily:Early this year I was busy spending time making YouTube videos and I didn’t spend as much time as I wanted with my dad. I also would have used that time to build other connections which were more important.

This is the most challenging by far. Why? Because I am here to gain an experience. When I left Switzerland, I couldn't get a job in an agency or in a creative company to create some content because I do not have enough of experience. So I did a certification in marketing before I left. So I had a physical paper that proves that I can do something in marketing, but I must say that the most challenging part was really to learn how to take better videos, how to take better photos. 2)To do this, what I have done. I thought, okay, you're going to travel, find a reason why you travel, try to set yourself a schedule on how you're going to do things. The very challenging part was to figure out how to get better. And how I did was, for example, bringing people together from around the world in different countries to learn from how they do, the deal that's following. I know they are better than I am, so I bring them to me. Without them, I wouldn't get better. Without me, they wouldn’t be traveling. So it's a give, give. 3)And also, I met a very nice person who's called Sultan that I worked with in Colombia for two weeks. I learned more in two weeks than I’ve done a whole year with him, and this really elevated my level of my work. It's about meeting the right people at the right moment, in the right context as well, and also about getting inspired by people and understanding how they work to get to be better at what you do. Lily:I have lost a subscription of 70,000 newsletter subscribers because I was not very attentive to my business when I was in Iceland. I’ve registered a new company and can’t wait to start a new chapter in my career.
