Story Transcript:

He: אוויר החורף הקריר נשא את ריח הלטקס ברחובות השוק ליד הבסיס הימי בחיפה.
En: The cool winter air carried the scent of latkes through the market streets near the naval base in Haifa.

He: האורות הקטנים הבריקו מעל הדוכנים המלאים בטובין של חנוכה, וההמולה הייתה רבה.
En: The small lights twinkled above the stalls filled with Hanukkah goods, and there was much hustle and bustle.

He: אבנר, קצין ימי, הלך יד ביד עם שירה, חברתו האהובה.
En: Avner, a naval officer, walked hand in hand with Shira, his beloved girlfriend.

He: יעל, חברתה הטובה של שירה, צעדה לידם.
En: Yael, Shira's best friend, walked beside them.

He: שירה עצרה ליד דוכן עם חנוכיות צבעוניות.
En: Shira stopped at a stall with colorful hanukkiahs.

He: והתלהבות נראתה על פניה.
En: Excitement showed on her face.

He: היא אהבה חנוכיות, במיוחד כאלה עם עיצובים מיוחדים.
En: She loved hanukkiahs, especially those with unique designs.

He: אבל בלבו של אבנר היה סוד גדול - הוא תכנן להציע לה נישואין באותו ערב.
En: But in Avner's heart was a big secret - he planned to propose to her that evening.

En: Everywhere they went, the stalls were bustling with people.

En: Shira stood and examined hanukkiahs, but Avner couldn't find the perfect one which would also serve as a vessel for his proposal.

En: Yael, who was sometimes skeptical about Avner, watched his movements carefully.

En: Avner realized he needed help.

En: He approached Yael and whispered, "Yael, I need your help.

En: Yael thought for a moment, saw the truth in Avner's eyes, and decided to help.

He: "אתה סומכים עליי, אבנר. אני אעזור לך."
En: "You can trust me, Avner. I'll help you."

He: היא פנתה לשירה והציעה לה להסתכל על הדוכנים בצד הרחוב, לתת לאבנר רגע לבד.
En: She turned to Shira and suggested they look at the stalls across the street, giving Avner a moment alone.

He: בעוד יעל ושירה התרחקו, אבנר סקב את השוק בעיניים מתוחות, עד שמצא אותה - חנוכיה מעוצבת בצורת ספינת מלחמה, מיוחדת במינה.
En: While Yael and Shira walked away, Avner scanned the market with keen eyes until he found it - a hanukkiah designed in the shape of a battleship, one of a kind.

He: בערב, כאשר נרות החנוכה בערו והשנה הדליקו אורות חמים, אבנר כרע ברך והוציא את הטבעת מתוך החנוכיה המיוחדת.
En: In the evening, when the candles of Hanukkah burned and the light glowed warmly, Avner knelt down and pulled the ring out of the special hanukkiah.

He: "שירה," הוא אמר בקול רועד מרגש, "תתחתני איתי?"
En: "Shira," he said in a voice trembling with emotion, "will you marry me?"

He: שירה בהתה בו, עיניה מוארות יותר מהנרות עצמם.
En: Shira stared at him, her eyes shining brighter than the candles themselves.

He: "כן, כמובן שכן!"
En: "Yes, of course, yes!"

He: כשאבנר חיבק את האישה שתהיה אישתו בקרוב, יעל עמדה בצד וחיוכה רחב.
En: As Avner embraced the woman who would soon be his wife, Yael stood aside with a wide smile.

En: She realized that Avner truly loved Shira, and pride filled her heart knowing she helped bring about this moment.
