Story Transcript:

He: שדרות פביאני בתל-אביב היתה שקטה באותו מוצשי, החום של ברחובות הסבלני והאוויר לח במיוחד.
En: Sderot Fabiani in Tel Aviv was quiet on that Saturday, the heat of the streets was intense and the air was particularly humid.

He: מרחק כמה דקות מהים, בדירת מרפסת קטנה, שרה היתה מארחת את חבריה לארוחת ערב.
En: Just a few minutes from the sea, in a small balcony apartment, Sarah was hosting her friends for a dinner.

He: שרה המזמנת את חבריה היתה מחויכת ומנסה להאריך את שמחת הלב במהלך הארוחה.
En: Sarah, the inviting host, was witty and trying to extend the joy of the evening during the meal.

He: הייתה לה מנה אהובה, תימני, "ג^'חנון-צ'יפס" כנקראה.
En: She had a beloved dish, Yemeni "Jachnun-Chips" as it was called.

He: אך במהלך הארוחה, משהו חריג קרה.
En: But during the meal, something unusual happened.

He: שרה, מארחת הערב, פתאום התחילה לערבב בין המילים שלה בעברית ובאנגלית, "We all need לשם שינוי more מקום!
En: Sarah, the host of the evening, suddenly started mixing her words in Hebrew and English, "We all need 'for a change' more 'space!'"

He: " היא אמרה.
En: she said.

He: הכל התפוצצו בצחוק.
En: Everyone burst into laughter.

He: היא שאלה את חברתה אם היא רוצה עוד "שלוש פרגיות," מתייחסת לכמה שתיית יין אפשר לשפוך לכוס.
En: She asked her friend if she wanted "three napkins," referring to how much wine can be poured into a glass.

He: פעם אחרית, היא אמרה כי היא רוצה "more פלפל בישול.
En: Another time, she said she wanted "more 'cooking pepper.'"

He: "לאורך כל הלילה, החברים צחקו והיה להם נהדר.
En: Throughout the night, the friends laughed and had a great time.

He: אף אחד לא ניסה לעצור את שרה מלדבר בערבית שלה, זה פשוט היה חשוב.
En: No one tried to stop Sarah from speaking in her Arabic, it was just important.

He: האווירה הבינלאומית שהיא יצרה באותה ניט דו-לשונית הפכה את הארוחה לבלתי נשכחת.
En: The international atmosphere she created with her bilingual banter made the dinner unforgettable.

En: When the last person thanked and left, Sarah stood smiling in surprise at the amusement she had created.

En: She realized she had her own humor, and she began to smile.

He: "אף פעם לא הכנתי 'ג^'חנון-צ'יפס' טעים כל כך", אמרה שרה, משקפת על לשונה המעורבת.
En: "I never made 'Yemeni Jachnun-Chips' taste so good," Sarah said, reflecting on her mixed tongue.
