Story Transcript:

He: בין הענפים המושלגים של גן הבוטניקה בברוקלין, נשמעו צחוקים רכים ומילים מתחלפות בעברית.
En: Between the snowy branches of the botanical garden in Brooklyn, gentle laughter and words exchanged in Hebrew could be heard.

He: חג ט"ו בשבט היה בעיצומו, ומשפחות רבות הגיעו להנות מהיופי הטבעי.
En: The holiday of Tu BiShvat was in full swing, and many families had come to enjoy the natural beauty.

He: אבנר, לבוש במעיל חורף עבה, הסתובב בין הדוכנים בנסיון להרשים את מיכל.
En: Avner, dressed in a thick winter coat, wandered among the stalls trying to impress Michal.

He: הוא הרגיש קצת מוזר.
En: He felt a little strange.

He: לרוב, כשהיה ליד מיכל, היה אובד מילים.
En: Usually, when he was near Michal, he was at a loss for words.

He: היום, הוא החליט לאזור אומץ ולהפוך למומחה צמחים בן-לילה.
En: Today, he decided to muster the courage and become a plant expert overnight.

En: He knew perfectly well that Avner had no idea what a rare orchid was, but still kept an eye on them for support.

He: "יוסי, תראה," אמר אבנר, "זה סחלב נדיר במיוחד.
En: "Yossi, look," Avner said, "this is a particularly rare orchid.

He: הוא הגיע לכאן כל הדרך מטוסקנה."
En: It came all the way from Tuscany."

He: מיכל פנתה אליו בהתלהבות: "באמת? איזה יופי!"
En: Michal turned to him excitedly, "Really? How beautiful!"

He: אבנר התחיל לספר סיפור מומצא על מקורות הצמח, תוך כדי שהוא מנופף בידיים בהתלהבות.
En: Avner began to tell an imaginary story about the origins of the plant while waving his hands enthusiastically.

He: "את מבינה, לטוסקנים השתמשו בזה כבחלק מטקסים סודיים..."
En: "You see, the Tuscans used it in secret ceremonies..."

He: בזה הרגע הוא פתאום איבד שיווי משקל.
En: At that moment, he suddenly lost his balance.

He: באפקט דרמטי למדי, הסתובב ונפל על הרצפה, כשהוא מפיל איתו את כל תצוגת הסחלבים.
En: In a rather dramatic effect, he turned and fell to the ground, taking with him the entire orchid display.

He: הצמחים הנדירים התפזרו לכל עבר.
En: The rare plants scattered everywhere.

He: מיכל התכופפה לעזור לו.
En: Michal bent down to help him.

He: היא חייכה בעדינות ואמרה, "אבנר, אתה יודע שאין לך צורך להמציא סיפורים.
En: She smiled gently and said, "Avner, you know you don't need to make up stories.

He: אני פשוט אוהבת את הצמחים האלה בכל מקרה."
En: I just love these plants anyway."

He: אבנר הסמיק.
En: Avner blushed.

He: "אני מצטער, אני לא מבין בצמחים כמו שטענתי.
En: "I'm sorry, I don't understand plants like I claimed.

He: רק רציתי להכיר לך יותר."
En: I just wanted to get to know you better."

He: מיכל צחקה קלות וסידרה את אחד הסחלבים הפזורים.
En: Michal laughed softly and arranged one of the scattered orchids.

He: "אין בעיה. אני אוהבת כנות.
En: "No problem. I love honesty.

He: עכשיו, בוא נראה מה עוד יש כאן."
En: Now, let's see what else is here."

He: יוסי הצטרף אליהם ושניהם טיילו יחד עם מיכל בשאר גן הבוטניקה.
En: Yossi joined them, and they both walked together with Michal through the rest of the botanical garden.

He: הם נהנו מהנוף, והחיוך הגדול על פניו של אבנר גילה שלא תמיד צריך לדעת הכל כדי להרשים.
En: They enjoyed the scenery, and the big smile on Avner's face revealed that you don't always have to know everything to impress.

He: לפעמים האמת הפשוטה היא הדרך ללב של מישהו.
En: Sometimes simple truth is the way to someone's heart.
