Story Transcript:

He: דוד מנע את ההנדאי הכחול שלו שבין החניונות הפרטיים, בתים הגבוהים והמרפסטים המאוכלסים של תל אביב. הלב שלו, משורשר בתוך חולצתו הנחושה, נעשה כמו מציקה כבדה בגרונו. השמש של שישי בצוהריים הפכה את העיר לתנור שלביבה, ואף אחד לא משאיר לו מקום בחניון.
En: David circled in his blue Honda between the private parking lots, tall buildings, and crowded balconies of Tel Aviv. His heart, chained within his sturdy shirt, felt like a heavy stone in his throat. The Friday sun scorched the city, turning it into a furnace, and no parking spot was left for him.

He: "לא, זה חניית תושבים," אמרה אישה בגיל העמידה כאשר ניסה לעקוף אותה.
En: "No, this is for residents," a woman in her forties said as she tried to cut in front of him.

He: ההאנדאי נדנד מצד לצד, כשדוד מכה צעדים על השפתיים נמוכות של תיקון רחובות. הרחובות אוכלוסים, המדרכות מלאות בעריסות ואנשים מגוונים, והשפעת המכוניות מניעה אותו לתוך זרי בניינים שונים, מחפש חניה.
En: The Honda swayed back and forth as David took steps on the low sidewalks of street maintenance. The streets were crowded, the sidewalks filled with strollers and diverse people, and the car traffic pushed him towards the various building complexes, searching for parking.

He: תוך כדי שהחום מתפשט בכבישים, דוד נפשש לקחת נשימה עמוקה. מדבר איתו עצמו, אל מול המראה: "אתה רוצה רק חניה. זה פשוט. זה לא קשה..." אך טבע את המילים בתוך קדחת המדען שלו.
En: As the heat spread on the roads, David hesitated to take a deep breath. Talking to himself in front of the mirror, he said, "You just want a parking spot. It's simple. It's not hard..." but the words sank deep into his mind.

He: לפתע, אחרי עשרות דקות מרובות ייאוש, הוא מבחין בשטח פנוי מדהים. דובר גבורה של תושבה. הייתה לו חניה! עשה חצי עצור וחנה בדיוק אחרי מכונית אדומה צפופה.
En: Suddenly, after dozens of minutes of despair, he noticed an amazing vacant spot. A brave resident had spoken. He had a parking spot! He made a half stop and parked right after a crowded red car.

He: דוד יצא מהרכב, נשם אוויר חמים של חופש, וחייך. יש לו חניה. החליט שהמפגש שלו עם החברים שווה את הייאוש, את החום, את כל ההכול. הוא שוב מאמין בעצמו, בעיר הירוקה המופשטת שלו. עכשיו הוא מתחיל את סוף השבוע שלו. עם חיוך, הוא התחיל לצעוד לעבר המפגש.
En: David stepped out of the car, breathed the warm air of freedom, and smiled. He had a parking spot. He decided that his meeting with his friends was worth the despair, the heat, all the frustration. He believed in himself again, in his abstract green city. Now he was starting his weekend. With a smile, he began to walk towards the meeting.
