He: נורה קרה נשבה מחוץ לחלונות המוסד הפסיכיאטרי.
En: A cold light blew outside the windows of the psychiatric institution.
He: השלג נערם במדרכות, בעוד אורות חג החנוכה הבהבו מבין העלים העירומים.
En: The snow piled up on the sidewalks, while the lights of Hanukkah flickered between the bare leaves.
He: נועה נעמדה במסדרון, עטופה במעיל חורף כבד, עיניה נעות בין היתר המבקרים ובני המשפחה המתאספים.
En: Noa stood in the corridor, wrapped in a heavy winter coat, her eyes moving between the various visitors and family members gathering.
He: בחדר 102, על כיסא ליד החלון, ישבה מרים, אמה של נועה.
En: In room 102, on a chair by the window, sat Miriam, Noa's mother.
He: עיניה לטושות אל הגינה המושלגת אך מוחה היה במקום אחר.
En: Her eyes were fixed on the snowy garden, but her mind was elsewhere.
He: נועה נכנסה בזהירות, מפנה את מבטה אל אחיה הממתין עבורה שם בפינה.
En: Noa entered cautiously, glancing toward her brother waiting for her there in the corner.
He: אלי, שליווה את פניו תמיד עם מטען של ציניות, הביט בחדר בהסתייגות.
En: Eli, whose face always carried a hint of cynicism, looked around the room with reluctance.
He: "הדלקנו את החנוכייה היום, אמא," אמרה נועה בחיוך רך, מנסה לפתוח את השיחה.
En: "We lit the Hanukkiah today, Mom," Noa said with a gentle smile, trying to start the conversation.
He: אלי פלט נשיפה קלה אך עצר את עצמו מלומר דבר.
En: Eli let out a slight sigh but held back from saying anything.
He: מרים הביטה בהן פתאום.
En: Miriam suddenly looked at them.
He: "החנוכייה," היא אמרה לאט, כאילו מזכירה לעצמה דבר כלשהו.
En: "The Hanukkiah," she said slowly, as if reminding herself of something.
He: "אתם זוכרים... את החנוכייה של סבתא?"
En: "Do you remember... Grandma's Hanukkiah?"
He: נועה הנהנה, מופתעת מתשומת הלב הפתאומית של אמה.
En: Noa nodded, surprised by her mother's sudden attention.
He: אלי גם הוא נע באי-שקט, מסקרן לשמוע מה שיש לה לומר.
En: Eli also shifted uneasily, curious to hear what she had to say.
He: "פעמיים נלחמנו על האור," מרים התחילה, קולה מטושטש, אך ברור.
En: "Twice we fought for the light," Miriam began, her voice blurry, yet clear.
He: "פעם נגד היוונים, ופעם נגד עצמנו."
En: "Once against the Greeks, and once against ourselves."
He: כולם שתקו.
En: Everyone remained silent.
He: נועה הביט באלי, ידה שלוחת אל אמה המביאה לה ביטחון.
En: Noa looked at Eli, her hand extending to her mother, providing her comfort.
He: אלי נאנח, ספק אך בירור לתוך עצמו.
En: Eli sighed, hesitating but clearly within himself.
He: המילים של מרים הפעילו בו זכרונות שחשב שנשכחו.
En: Miriam's words triggered memories in him he thought forgotten.
He: "פעם... כשהיינו קטנים," אמר בכוונה מלאה, עיניו נפגשות עם אחיותיו.
En: "Once... when we were little," he said with full intent, his eyes meeting his sister's.
He: "אני זוכר."
En: "I remember."
He: הם הוציאו איתה את הספטל של החנוכייה ושרו "מעוז צור".
En: They brought out the Hanukkiah's oil lamp with her and sang "Maoz Tzur."
He: כשאורות החנוכייה האירו את החדר, נוכחותה של אמא הייתה כעת חדה ומורגשת.
En: As the lights of the Hanukkiah illuminated the room, their mother's presence was now sharp and felt.
He: אלי הביט באמא בעדינות.
En: Eli looked gently at his mother.
He: "לא חשבתי על זה כך," אמר בשקט, פונה להתנצל על שנים של כעס.
En: "I never thought of it that way," he said quietly, turning to apologize for years of anger.
He: נועה התבוננה בו, לרגע מבינה את המאמץ שידרש לשתול את הזרעים של שלום במשפחתם, אבל כעת התהלכה תחושת התחלה חדשה בחדר הקר.
En: Noa watched him, understanding for a moment the effort it would take to plant the seeds of peace in their family, but now a sense of new beginnings walked through the cold room.
He: האוויר התחמם עם כל לב ההדולק למרגלות הנרות.
En: The air warmed with every heart lit at the foot of the candles.
He: זה לא היה הסוף.
En: It wasn't the end.
He: בעיות לא נפתרו בן-רגע.
En: Problems weren't solved in an instant.
He: אבל כאן, בין האורות, מצאו יחד קצה של חוט שיוביל אותם לימים חדשים.
En: But here, between the lights, they found together the end of a thread that would lead them to new days.
