Story Transcript:

He: בבוקר יפה בירושלים, השמש זורחת בשמים הכחולים.
En: On a beautiful morning in Jerusalem, the sun was shining in the blue sky.

He: יעל הולכת למכרות מחנה יהודה.
En: Yael walked to the Machane Yehuda Market.

He: השוק מלא צבעים, ריחות וצלילים.
En: The market was full of colors, smells, and sounds.

He: אנשים צועקים, אגוזים נטחנים, וירקות טריים מוצגים.
En: People were shouting, nuts were being ground, and fresh vegetables were on display.

He: יעל הגיעה לדוכן חומוס.
En: Yael arrived at a hummus stall.

He: היא הייתה רעבה ורצתה מחיר טוב.
En: She was hungry and wanted a good price.

He: "בוקר טוב," אמרה יעל למוכר.
En: "Good morning," Yael said to the vendor.

He: "כמה עולה חצי קילו חומוס?
En: "How much for half a kilo of hummus?"

He: "המוכר הביט בה ואמר, "שלושים שקל.
En: The vendor looked at her and said, "Thirty shekels."

He: "יעל הרגישה המחיר גבוה.
En: Yael felt the price was high.

He: "עשרים שקל ואני לוקחת," הציעה.
En: "Twenty shekels and I'll take it," she offered.

He: המוכר חייך.
En: The vendor smiled.

He: "שלושים או כלום," אמר בביטחון.
En: "Thirty or nothing," he said confidently.

He: יעל לא ויתרה.
En: Yael didn't give up.

He: "עשרים וחמש שקל?
En: "Twenty-five shekels?

He: בבקשה," אמרה.
En: Please," she asked.

He: אבל המוכר נשאר נוקשה.
En: But the vendor remained firm.

He: "שלושים," הוא חזר.
En: "Thirty," he repeated.

He: פתאום, אדם מאחור בטעות הדף את יעל והיא נתקלה בדוכן.
En: Suddenly, a person behind accidently bumped into Yael, causing her to stumble into the stall.

He: הקופסה הגדולה של החומוס נפלה והתיזה על כולם.
En: The large container of hummus fell and splattered on everyone.

He: אנשים נבהלו וצחקו.
En: People were startled and then started laughing.

He: החלו לזרוק חומוס אחד על השני.
En: They began throwing hummus at each other.

He: חנויות נוספות הצטרפו ל"מערכה".
En: More shops joined the "battle."

He: חומוס בכל מקום!
En: Hummus everywhere!

He: צעקות וצחוק מלאו את השוק.
En: Shouts and laughter filled the market.

He: בסוף, המוכר הביט ביעל, מחייך.
En: In the end, the vendor looked at Yael, smiling.

He: "עברנו הרבה היום," הוא אמר.
En: "We've been through a lot today," he said.

He: "תקבלי את החומוס בעשרים וחמש שקל.
En: "You can have the hummus for twenty-five shekels."

He: "יעל, עדיין מלאה בחומוס, חייכה ואמרה, "תודה רבה.
En: Yael, still covered in hummus, smiled and said, "Thank you very much."

He: "שבוע לאחר מכן, יעל חזרה לשוק.
En: A week later, Yael returned to the market.

He: הפעם, היא הביאה מגבת.
En: This time, she brought a towel.

He: כולם זכרו אותה וצחקו.
En: Everyone remembered her and laughed.

En: Yael had become a story at the Machane Yehuda Market.

He: ובסופו של דבר, היא קיבלה גם חומוס וגם חיוך רחב מהאנשים בשוק.
En: In the end, she got both hummus and a wide smile from the people at the market.

He: הם הפכו לחברים.
En: They became friends.

He: ומאותו יום, יעל ידעה איך להתמקח עם חיוך.
En: From that day on, Yael knew how to bargain with a smile.
