Story Transcript:

He: "החמסה המנוצצת חטף את מבטו של אברהם ברגע שהכניס את רגלו לחנות הפלאפל."
En: The sparkling necklace caught Abraham's eye as he entered the falafel shop.

He: "אותה חצר פשוטה שבה עמד הדוכן הישן כל כך מכירה לו."
En: The same simple courtyard where the old stall stood was so familiar to him.

He: "מה אתה אומר, אחי?" שאל המוכר ברב-קורת.
En: "What do you say, brother?" the vendor asked cheerfully.

He: אברהם הכניס את ידו לכיסו, הוציא דף הזמנה – ואז פתאום החל לפאניקה.
En: Abraham put his hand in his pocket, took out the order slip, and suddenly began to panic.

He: נסייתו לדבר בערבית שוטפת שאילף בחוגי השפות של האוניברסיטה העברית לא הייתה מיטב הצלחות.
En: His attempt to speak fluent Arabic, the language of the Hebrew University's language department, was not very successful.

He: "אני רוצה… פלא… פלא…" התחיל לגמגם אברהם.
En: "I want... falafel... falafel..." Abraham stammered.

He: סביבו המבטים החדו.
En: The gazes around him sharpened.

He: המוכר, התכיל בפנים, התיישב בכיסא הפשוט שצאצאיו קנו לו.
En: The vendor, containing himself, sat on the modest chair his offspring had bought him.

He: הכי שקט באזור הרשעי החל מחידת חום, עד כדי כך שמנזל התערובת בתנור התחיל לטפות ברעש.
En: The calmest place in the bustling area suddenly became heated, to the point where the mixture in the oven began to drip with noise.

He: אז מאחורי אברהם דף צחוק פרץ חזק.
En: Then, behind Abraham, a burst of laughter erupted loudly.

He: יעל, צעירה תקציבנית, עמדה שם עם טלמוד שבאקשף האשכנזי ביד וראשה מבוססים בבלונדיני שיערותייה.
En: Yael, a young accountant, stood there with a Talmud in her hand and her permed hair bobbing.

He: ונש סבלנות.
En: She was patiently annoyed.

He: הצחוק שלה כל כך דק שכמעט ולא שמעו אותו.
En: Her laughter was so delicate that it was almost unheard.

He: תוך כדי שיכשיכה כדימה מעט חמלה לחבר האימפוטנט של שפה.
En: While chuckling, she showed a little sympathy for the speech-impaired friend.

He: היא המשיכה וכינסה בהתקפה אחת מעטפת את כל הצחוקים שנלקחים ממנה.
En: She continued and gathered all the jokes taken from her in one envelope.

He: "החבר שלך!" היא קראה למוכר המבולבל.
En: "Your friend!" she called to the bewildered vendor.

He: "הוא רוצה פלאפל, עם חצילים ומלף!"
En: "He wants falafel with eggplant and tahini!"

He: המוכר התעורר מכאבדו, נפל סביבו צחוק...
En: The vendor woke up from his daze and fell into laughter...

He: לבסוף, למרות האישופ הפתאומי, המוכר השוטף דמעות התחיל להכין את הפלאפל.
En: Finally, despite the sudden embarrassment, the flushed vendor began preparing the falafel.

He: אברהם עמד שם בשתייה, מנסה להבהיר את מתנות פניו.
En: Abraham stood there blushing, trying to clarify the gifts on his face.

He: אזוי עם כל הכאב, והציפייה לתיקון, עם עיניים מלאות תמימות מגהץ את השקט.
En: With all the pain and expectations for improvement, with innocent eyes, he pressed for silence.

He: כשהמשלוח הגיע, יעל כבר הוזמנה לספסל לצדו.
En: When the order arrived, Yael had already been invited to sit next to him.

He: הם ישבו שם ביחד, נשנשים פלאפל עם החיים ממשיכים להתגלגל מסביב.
En: They sat together, munching falafel, as life continued to roll around them.

He: בתוך הכאוס, במקלחת הצחוק שהתעוררה בהם, מצאו את הרגעים האלה של שלווה וקהל נושאים בשקט מנות פלאפל מופתעות.
En: Within the chaos, in the shower of laughter that awakened in them, they found these moments of peace, and a crowd of subjects quietly surprised at falafel dishes.

He: סערה שבאה והולכת - כשהשמש נשקה את האוויר בפניה, נתנה להם זמן להתאושש מהאירועים.
En: A passing storm - when the sun kissed the air in its farewell, it gave them time to recover from the events.

He: בסופו של דבר, אפשר להחליט שאין מה לעשות לשפה - זו רק מילים, והאדם הוא יותר מזה.
En: In the end, it could be decided that there was nothing to be done about speech - it's just words, and a person is more than that.
