Story Transcript:

He: במרכז העיר הרותחת תל אביב, בבניין מרהיב בגובהם של העננים, התרחש המאורע. התא המעליתי של חברת "טכנו-לוגיקה" נפתח וקילקל את איתמר למרחק צעד מהחלום.
En: In the boiling center of Tel Aviv, in a magnificent skyscraper reaching the clouds, an incident occurred. The elevator of "Techno-Logic Ltd." malfunctioned, abruptly waking Itamar from his reverie.

He: איתמר התארח בראיון עבודה. גם טליה היתה שם, הקצינה לגייס משאבי אנוש של החברה. היו אותם מרגש ראיון ואת אותם שאלות תכליתיות שכולנו מכירים: "מדוע לבחור בך", "איפה ראה את עצמך עוד חמש שנים?"
En: Itamar had come for a job interview. Talia was also there, the company's human resources officer. They had the usual exciting interview experience with those generic and predictable questions we all know: "Why should we choose you?" "Where do you see yourself in five years?"

He: אך משהו לא הלך כמו שצפה איתמר. במקום לתת תשובות מדויקות ומתוכנתות, הסלנג העברי שלו ערבב באוויר. למילים שהוצא מפיו הקבועות בראיונות, הוכניסו מילה בלתי מוכרת, מילה מהרחוב. "מפציץ", זה מה שאמר.
En: But something did not go as Itamar had expected. Instead of giving precise and well-programmed answers, his Hebrew slang got mixed up in the air. Among the words that usually flowed from his mouth during interviews, an unfamiliar word slipped in, a word from the street. He said "mefatzitz".

He: המילה המוכרת עצמה כשף מבלבל את טליה, והיא בדהימה. "מה התכוונת?" שאלה, אבל איתמר, עם רגשות שנעשו פתאום לערערים, לא הצליח לתקן את הנזק, ורק הוסיף לבלבול.
En: The familiar word surprised and puzzled Talia. She was stunned. "What do you mean?" she asked, but Itamar, with suddenly jumbled emotions, failed to correct the damage and only added to the confusion.

He: ובכך, במקום לקבל הזמנה לעבודה, פנה איתמר חזרה לרחובות תל אביב. העיר בה הוא גדל, בה התחנך לסלנג שלה, נכשל בראיון החיים שלו.
En: And so, instead of receiving a job offer, Itamar turned back to the streets of Tel Aviv. The city where he grew up, where he learned its slang, he had failed in his most important interview.

He: אבל איתמר לא היה מאוכזב. הספיק, ולמד מהטעות שלו. מאז ומעולם, הבטיח לעצמו לא לערבב יותר את השפות, ולהפתיע שוב כמה עוברים ושבים בעיר הגדולה, תל אביב.
En: But Itamar was not disappointed. He had learned from his mistake. Since then, he promised himself not to mix languages anymore and not to surprise again those passing through the bustling city of Tel Aviv.
