Story Transcript:

He: ביום שמשי חם ירד נועם לשוק מחנה יהודה.
En: On a hot sunny day, Noam went down to the Mahane Yehuda market.

He: הוא צעד בין הדוכנים, מתעכב כאן וכאן כדי להריח את התבלינים ולטעום את הפירות הטריים.
En: He walked among the stalls, lingering here and there to smell the spices and taste the fresh fruits.

He: לבסוף, נכנס לחנותו האהובה עליו כדי לקנות כמה ירקות לארוחת הערב.
En: Finally, he entered his favorite shop to buy some vegetables for dinner.

He: "שלום נועם, מה תרצה היום?" שאל עליה, המוכר החביב.
En: "Hello Noam, what would you like today?" asked Alia, the friendly vendor.

He: "אני צריך עגבניות, מלפפונים וכמה תפו"א," ענה נועם תוך כדי רשימה שלקח מכיסו.
En: "I need tomatoes, cucumbers, and some parsley," answered Noam, checking his list from his pocket.

He: אחרי שתמר, אשתו של עליה, ארזה את הירקות בתוך שקית, שלם נועם והחליט להמשיך לחנויות הבאות ברשימתו.
En: After a moment, Alia, his wife, packed the vegetables into a bag, and Noam paid and decided to continue to the next stores on his list.

He: בתוך כך שלא היה מודע לכך, לקראת המעבר דרך הדוכנים, נועם שם את תיקו בדלפק לרגע זהה בדיוק כאשר עליה הסתובב לקחת תיק בצלים ללקוח אחר.
En: Unbeknownst to him, as he was passing through the stalls, Noam placed his bag on the counter for a moment just as Alia turned to grab a bag for another customer.

He: כאשר הגיע חזרה הביתה, נועם פתח את השקית להכין את הארוחה והופתע למצוא בתוכה ערימה של בצלים ולא את הירקות שרכש.
En: When he got home, Noam opened the bag to prepare the meal and was surprised to find a pile of onions inside instead of the vegetables he had bought.

He: "אוי ואבוי, זה לא מה שרציתי," אמר לעצמו נועם בזעף.
En: "Oh no, this is not what I wanted," Noam said to himself in anger.

He: "עכשיו איך אוכל להכין את הסלט לארוחה?!"
En: "Now how can I make the salad for dinner?!"

He: בלי לבזבז זמן, נועם חזר על עקבותיו לשוק.
En: Without wasting time, Noam retraced his steps to the market.

He: עם הגעתו לחנות של עליה, הוא ראה תיק אחר שנראה כמו שלו עומד לבד על הדלפק.
En: When he arrived at Alia's shop, he saw another bag that looked like his sitting alone on the counter.

He: עליה בחיוך רחב אמר, "חשבתי שתחזור, נראה לי שחלף בינינו טעות."
En: With a wide smile, Alia said, "I thought you would come back; it seems there was a mix-up between us."

He: נועם לקח את התיק הנכון והציע לקנות את הבצלים הנוספים, אך עליה הושיט לו את היד ואמר, "תחשוב על זה כמתנה מהשמיים. אני בטוח שתמצא מה לעשות עם כל אלה בצלים."
En: Noam took the correct bag and offered to buy the additional onions, but Alia waved her hand and said, "Think of it as a gift from above. I'm sure you'll find something to do with all those onions."
