Story Transcript:

He: אווירת הבהלה של ירושלים המלאה בריחות תיבולים וחום כבשה את מעיינם של דוד ורחל.
En: The atmosphere of panic in Jerusalem, filled with the scents of spices and the heat of the sun, overwhelmed David and Rachel.

He: הם גידרו ממש בהיסטריה, קופצים מטאקסי לאוטובוס ומשם לרגל.
En: They wandered around in hysteria, jumping from taxi to bus and then walking.

He: כל זאת בתרגיל גאוגרפי חסר תקווה, במטרה למצוא את הכותל המערבי.
En: All of this in a hopeless geographical exercise, with the goal of finding the Western Wall.

He: אך את דוד ורחל, שניים שעמידה בדרכים לא הצליחה לשבש, נפלו בור בחורבות ארמונות הקיסר.
En: But David and Rachel, the two who couldn't be deterred by the crowded streets, stumbled into a pit amidst the ruins of the palaces.

He: "חומוס!
En: "Hummus!

He: יש לנו חומוס!
En: We have hummus!"

He: " צעק להם בעל דוכן הפלאפל מתוך הפליטה.
En: shouted the falafel stand owner from within his refuge.

He: דוד הענה לקריאה.
En: David responded to the call.

He: בחושך חנות הפלאפל, הארוכה בסכיני חציל פריכים, דוד התרסק בתכלית הבלבול לדוכן שמן ושקוף, וממנו מתנשאה עצימת חולצים השרוך בחום, פיתה וחומוס.
En: In the darkness of the falafel shop, lined with fresh eggplants and shining knives, David crashed into the stand full of transparent oil, from which the enticing aroma of warm pitas and hummus emanated.

He: ברגע, דוד הוא היה מכוסה בחומוס, מראשו ועד רגליו.
En: In an instant, David was covered in hummus from head to toe.

He: מן האפלה שלפנים, הופיעה רחל, מחזיקה בשתי קניות סלעי בקבוק בירה קורה מהמקרר.
En: Emerging from the darkness, Rachel appeared holding two bags of rocky cans and a bottle of cold beer from the refrigerator.

He: על פרצופו של דוד, מכוסה בחומוס, ניכר הבושה הגדולה שבה איבד את ראיית הכותל, ובמקום זאת מצא חומוס.
En: Embarrassment was evident on David's face, covered in hummus, where the sight of the Western Wall was lost, replaced instead by hummus.

He: רחל מעדה במבוך מחשבותיה, דנדשה את הבושה עם החומוס המחקאי, ופרצה בחמימות הקשוחה של הצחוק.
En: Rachel burst into laughter, delighting in the absurdity and breaking through the tough warmth of her laughter.

He: אך את פרצופו של דוד טרף הבושה, ועל כן כלל לא נמנע מלחייך בתוך הפלאפליסטיה.
En: However, David's face reflected embarrassment, and he could not resist smiling amidst the falafel frenzy.

He: החגיגה של החומוס על פניו, הימים שהעביר בירושלים, המנוע שיצא מאיזון - כל אלה הוסיפו טעם חפיז לחיוך.
En: The celebration of hummus on his face, the days spent in Jerusalem, the imbalance that came out of rhythm - all added a hasty taste to his grin.

He: אחרי שתיים וחצי שעות, דוד מטרף את בגדיו הממוססים וטובל אותם במים קרים, מהדהד את צחוקו של רחל שנדמה לו כמינוסה.
En: After two and a half hours, David takes off his saucy clothes and dips them in cold water, echoing Rachel's laughter, which seemed infinite to him.

He: כשסיימו לאכול, דוד מניח את החומוס הנותר על ידי השולחן, מתמהמה לרגע אחד במחשבותיו, מקפיץ מבט לרחל, מחייך ואז יוצא.
En: When they finish eating, David places the remaining hummus on the side of the table, hesitates for a moment in his thoughts, glances at Rachel, smiles, and then leaves.

He: שניהם יוצאים מדוכן הפלאפל, מרימים את נשיאתם, והולכים לקראת השקיעה.
En: They both exit the falafel stand, lift their possessions, and walk towards the sunset.

He: מכל המסע, הם שותקים, מלאים בשמחה ובאהבה, מגיעים לפתאומות משגעות, וחושבים על הרגע של הבושה שלהם - את השנייה בה דוד נכוסה בחומוס.
En: Throughout the journey, they are silent, filled with joy and love, suddenly overwhelmed by crazy thoughts, and they think of the moment that embarrassed them - the second in which David was coated in hummus.
