Bad news about your weight loss: losing the weight might not fix the thing you think it’s going to fix.
I know. Extremely inconvenient.
Because maybe you’ve been telling yourself that when you finally lose the 20 pounds, fit into the smaller size, or see that number on the scale, THEN you’ll feel confident. Then you’ll wear the clothes. Take the pictures. Stop obsessing. Finally feel like yourself again.
Except there’s one tiny problem:
Wherever you go, there you are.
And yes, that includes your smaller body.
In this episode of Unf*ck Your Weight Loss, I’m talking about the part of transformation nobody wants to put on the before-and-after graphic: changing your body doesn’t automatically change your relationship with yourself.
We’re getting into moving goalposts, chasing compliments, letting three numbers on a scale write an entire Russian novel about your worth, and why your high school weight does not need to be treated like it was handed down on a stone tablet.
You’re allowed to want to lose weight.
You’re allowed to want to look better, feel sexier, get stronger, and change your body.
But if you’re asking weight loss to finally make you happy, confident, worthy, lovable, or enough?
We need to talk.
Because losing the weight isn’t the whole job.
And strangely enough, that might be the best news of all.
This episode is also dedicated to Bill Gramby, whose five-minute conversation with me more than 30 years ago gave me a lesson I’ve carried ever since.
