En: Taking the wrong alley after alley, Mario began to feel more and more frustrated.

It: Alla fine, decise di chiedere indicazioni a qualcuno.
En: Finally, he decided to ask someone for directions.

En: Mario approached and asked: "Excuse me, could you show me the way to the Colosseum?

    It: Mi sono perso."
    En: I'm lost."

It: Il venditore di gelati sembrò improvvisamente entusiasta.
En: The ice cream seller suddenly looked enthusiastic.

    It: "Oh!
    En: "Oh!

    It: Il Colosseo!
    En: The Colosseum!

    It: È un posto meraviglioso!
    En: It's a wonderful place!

It: Ma prima di darti indicazioni, devo chiederti: quale gusto di gelato preferisci?"
En: But before I give you directions, I have to ask: which ice cream flavor do you prefer?"

It: Mario rimase un po' confuso.
En: Mario was a bit confused.

It: "Beh, adoro il gusto al cioccolato."
En: "Well, I love the chocolate flavor."

    It: Il venditore annuì comprensivo.
En: The salesman nodded in sympathy.

En: "Chocolate is really delicious, but you know, here in Rome we also have pistachio ice cream!

    It: È il mio preferito!
    En: It's my favorite!

    It: Hai mai provato quello?"
En: Have you ever tried that?"

    It: Mario scosse la testa.
    En: Mario shook his head.

    It: "No, non ancora.
    En: "No, not yet.

En: Sounds interesting, but could you kindly show me the way to the Colosseum?"

En: The ice cream seller scratched his chin.

En: "Well, to reach the Colosseum, you have to turn right from here and follow the main avenue.

En: Walk straight and you will find it on your left.

It: Ma dimmi, hai mai assaggiato il gelato alla fragola?"
En: But tell me, have you ever tasted strawberry ice cream?"

En: Mario sighed, a little tired of the vendor's insistence on the various choices of ice cream flavours.

En: "Thanks for the directions, I'll take a look at the Colosseum.

En: But could we please wrap up the discussion on ice cream flavors?"

En: The salesman put his hand over his heart, pretending to be offended.

    It: "Va bene, va bene!
    En: "Okay, okay!

    It: Ho capito!
    En: I get it!

En: But you don't know what you're missing if you don't try the vanilla ice cream!

It: È così cremoso e delizioso!"
En: It's so creamy and delicious!"

En: Mario nodded distractedly and headed in the direction indicated.

En: He walked for a few more minutes, keeping his eyes peeled for the Colosseum.

En: Finally, he saw it, but the view was amazing!

It: Si fermò a bocca aperta, ammirando la maestosità delle rovine antiche.
En: He stopped with his mouth open, taking in the majesty of the ancient ruins.

En: As he approached the Colosseum, the thought of the countless flavors of ice cream completely slipped his mind.

It: Era troppo affascinato dalla grandezza e dalla storia dell'edificio.
En: He was too enthralled by the grandeur and history of the building.

En: He forgot about the ice cream vendor and let himself be carried away by the beauty of the Colosseum.

En: The story of Mario and his desire to enjoy ice cream ended in success, but in the truest sense of the word, ice cream did not play a major role in his journey to find the Colosseum.

En: His adventure had allowed him to discover the beauty of Rome and above all to appreciate the historical importance of the Colosseum.

En: And in the end, Mario understood that there were different tastes for each individual, just as there are different places to explore in the world.

En: And so, Mario continued his journey through Rome, ready to savor the pleasures and discoveries that the city had to offer, without neglecting his fear of ice cream, but without forgetting the main reason for his journey: the love of Roman history and culture.

En: So, the two teachers plucked up their courage, got up and entered the class where Sofia was studying.

En: There, with smiles on their faces and arms in motion, they began teaching Sofia using exaggerated and theatrical gestures.

    It: "Buongiorno, Sofia!"
    En: "Good morning, Sophia!"

It: esclamò Giuseppe, facendo un gesto che sembrava dire "sole".
En: exclaimed Giuseppe, making a gesture that seemed to say "sun".

    It: "Come ti chiami?"
    En: "What is your name?"

En: he asked then, making a fingertip gesture towards her.

It: Sofia li osservò attentamente, confusa.
En: Sofia watched them carefully, confused.

It: Ma invece di rispondere verbalmente o usare i gesti corretti, iniziò a imitare i gesti di Giuseppe e Giovanni in modo esilarante e esagerato.
En: But instead of verbally responding or using the correct gestures, he began mimicking Joseph and John's gestures in a hilariously exaggerated way.

En: She made a huge gesture of the sun, then pointed two fingers at herself as if to indicate her name.

En: Joseph and John gasped, unable to hold back their laughter.

En: Sofia, thinking that was what they expected of her, continued to mimic their gestures as hilariously as possible.

En: What started out as a way to be more understanding in Sofia soon turned into a comic challenge.

En: The three danced between cumbersome gestures, loud laughter and an atmosphere of contagious joy.

En: There was no boredom or frustration in the room.

En: After a while, Sophia stopped short and looked at Joseph and John with a light in her eyes.

    It: "Gesto è divertente!"
    En: "Gesture is fun!"

En: he said, making a big wave of applause with his hands.

En: The two teachers looked at each other, smiling.

En: They had made a mistake, but the result had been better than they had imagined.

En: Sofia had learned to have fun with the language, not to take herself too seriously and to imitate others in the most hilarious way possible.

En: That evening, at the village café, Giuseppe and Giovanni told all the other teachers about their adventure with Sofia.

En: Everyone bursts out laughing, amused by the idea of the three dancing and exchanging exaggerated gestures.

En: Over time, Sofia learned Italian better and better, but her unique way of communicating, through hilarious gestures, became a hallmark for teachers and friends.

En: Thus, what began as a simple grammar lesson turned into a lesson in joy and laughter together.

En: Sofia had taught Giuseppe and Giovanni how important it was to take yourself less seriously and appreciate the little things that make life brighter and more enjoyable.

En: And they, in turn, had taught Sofia that even if words are not always understood, the language of humor and friendship can overcome any language barrier.
