En: Summer had given Copenhagen a special glow.

En: She was an art history student with a particular interest in Renaissance art.

En: Suddenly, she heard murmuring from the group behind her.

En: A scream jolted her out of her trance.

En: Freja, the museum's security guard, ran towards Astrid with a worried expression.

Da: "Har du set maleriet?"
En: "Have you seen the painting?"

Da: spurgte Freja ophidset.
En: asked Freja excitedly.

Da: "Qt maleri?"
En: "What painting?"

Da: svarede Astrid.
En: replied Astrid.

Da: "Det dyrebare maleri af Munch.
En: "The valuable painting by Munch.

Da: Det er væk!"
En: It's gone!"

En: Freja pointed to the empty spot on the wall where the painting had previously hung.

Da: Nikolaj, den aldrende kurator, kom langsomt gående.
En: Nikolaj, the elderly curator, came walking slowly.

Da: Han så mildest talt bekymret ud.
En: He looked more than a little concerned.

En: "We must find it now," he mumbled.

Da: "Dette kan ikke ske.
En: "This can't happen.

Da: Ikke på min vagt."
En: Not on my watch."

Da: Astrid kiggede rundt.
En: Astrid looked around.

Da: "Jeg vil hjælpe," sagde hun bestemt.
En: "I will help," she said firmly.

Da: Freja så skeptisk på hende.
En: Freja glanced at her skeptically.

Da: "Du er jo bare en studerende.
En: "You're just a student.

Da: Hvordan kan du hjælpe?"
En: How can you help?"

Da: "Jeg har øje for detaljer," svarede Astrid.
En: "I have an eye for detail," Astrid replied.

Da: Freja trak på skulderen.
En: Freja shrugged.

Da: "Okay, men hold dig tæt på mig."
En: "Okay, but stick close to me."

Da: De begyndte deres søgning sammen.
En: They began their search together.

Da: Der var mange rum at undersøge i det store museum.
En: There were many rooms to examine in the large museum.

Da: Nikolaj gik langsomt bag dem.
En: Nikolaj walked slowly behind them.

Da: Han virkede nervøs.
En: He seemed nervous.

En: After several hours of searching, Astrid found a small door.

Da: "Hvad er der herinde?"
En: "What's in here?"

Da: spurgte hun.
En: she asked.

En: "It looks like a storage room," she said and opened the door.

Da: Indenfor, skjult bag nogle kasser, sad Munchs maleri.
En: Inside, hidden behind some boxes, was Munch's painting.

Da: "Der er det!"
En: "There it is!"

Da: råbte Astrid.
En: shouted Astrid.

Da: Men noget var galt.
En: But something was wrong.

Da: Hvordan kom maleriet herind?
En: How did the painting get in here?

En: She turned to Nikolaj, who now stood in the doorway with a worried look.

Da: "Nikolaj, vidste du noget om dette?"
En: "Nikolaj, did you know anything about this?"

Da: spurgte Freja.
En: asked Freja.

Da: Nikolaj sukkede dybt.
En: Nikolaj sighed deeply.

Da: "Ja," indrømmede han.
En: "Yes," he admitted.

Da: "Jeg har en fortid.
En: "I have a past.

Da: En mørk fortid.
En: A dark past.

Da: Jeg ville beskytte mig selv."
En: I wanted to protect myself."

Da: Astrid og Freja kiggede på hinanden.
En: Astrid and Freja looked at each other.

Da: De vidste, at dette kunne ændre alt.
En: They knew this could change everything.

Da: "Vi skal melde det," sagde Freja.
En: "We need to report this," said Freja.

Da: Men Astrid rystede på hovedet.
En: But Astrid shook her head.

En: "We can return the painting and say we found it.

En: But Nikolaj, you need to retire.

En: It's the least you can do."

Da: Nikolaj nikkede trist.
En: Nikolaj nodded sadly.

Da: "Jeg forstår.
En: "I understand.

Da: Jeg fortryder mine handlinger."
En: I regret my actions."

Da: De tre returnerede maleriet til dets plads.
En: The three of them returned the painting to its place.

En: The museum director was pleased and praised Freja and Astrid.

Da: Astrid følte sig endelig anerkendt for sine evner.
En: Astrid finally felt recognized for her abilities.

Da: Hun vidste nu, at hun havde en fremtid i kunsthistorien.
En: She now knew she had a future in art history.

En: Freja also felt more respected and appreciated in her work.

En: Nikolaj stood back, taking one last look at the painting.

En: It was time to say goodbye.

Da: Han vidste, hans tid i museet var ovre.
En: He knew his time at the museum was over.

En: The sun set, and the shadows grew long in the large museum.

Da: Men indeni følte de sig alle lidt lysere.
En: But inside, they all felt a little brighter.
