\n06:32〈There's a certain Slant of light,〉:秋末斜陽帶出冬末、年尾、夕陽,三層消逝
\n13:05 延伸賞析:超越主義下的自然、人生、宗教,〈The Rhodora〉By R.W. Emerson 愛默生

\nAs Imperceptibly as Grief
\nAs imperceptibly as Grief
\nThe Summer lapsed away —
\nToo imperceptible, at last
\nTo seem like Perfidy —
\n\n
A Quietness distilled
\nAs Twilight long begun
\nOr Nature spending with herself
\nSequestered Afternoon —
\n\n
The Dusk drew earlier in —
\nThe Morning foreign shone —
\nA courteous, yet harrowing Grace
\nAs Guest that would be gone —
\n\n
And thus without a Wing
\nOr service of a Keel
\nOur Summer made her light escape
\nInto the Beautiful
\n\n
There's a certain Slant of light,
\nThere's a certain Slant of light,
\nWinter Afternoons –
\nThat oppresses, like the Heft
\nOf Cathedral Tunes –
\n\n
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us –
\nWe can find no scar,
\nBut internal difference –
\nWhere the Meanings, are –
\n\n
None may teach it – Any –
\n'Tis the seal Despair –
\nAn imperial affliction
\nSent us of the Air –
\n\n
When it comes, the Landscape listens –
\nShadows – hold their breath –
\nWhen it goes, 'tis like the Distance
\nOn the look of Death –
\n\n
The Rhodora by R.W. Emerson
\nIn May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,
\nI found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,
\nSpreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
\nTo please the desert and the sluggish brook.
\n\n
The purple petals fallen in the pool
\nMade the black water with their beauty gay;
\nHere might the red-bird come his plumes to cool,
\nAnd court the flower that cheapens his array.
\n\n
Rhodora! if the sages ask thee why
\nThis charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
\nTell them, dear, that, if eyes were made for seeing,
\nThen beauty is its own excuse for Being;
\n\n
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
\nI never thought to ask; I never knew;
\nBut in my simple ignorance suppose
\nThe self-same power that brought me there, brought you.
