Timmy and I decided early on that we were not going to be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help while raising Sonny. For those of you who watched our YouTube series "I Love My Baby, But," you know that I felt way over my head as a new mom. I firmly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I am so thankful for everyone in my life who helps me with Sonny. I want him to have the best life possible and providing him with an army of people who love and support him is giving him just that. Ziva Renan is a key member of Sonny's village. She is a child development specialist who has worked with children ages 0-5 for 30 years! She works with parents to help understand children’s worlds and support their development. She has been a true lifesaver for Timmy, Sonny and me. Parents, get ready to take notes...Ziva shares so many must know tips. PLUS everyone's favorite guest, Timmy, is back!

Working out is a massive part of my self-care routine. During a good week, I try and do hot yoga at least 3 times. You have loads of workouts right on your phone that you can do ANYWHERE! What a dream, right?! During this episode, I chat with Obé’s founders and friends, Mark Mullet and Ashley Mills. I am always a little bit scared to get super vulnerable on social media, especially about my plights with motherhood. However, every time I do, I get such amazing and validating feedback from my followers. I was thrilled to learn that Michelle Kennedy created a larger platform for these meaningful motherhood conversations. In 2017, she launched Peanut, a “dating app” just for moms! This app connects women throughout the US and UK. (They have over 1 MILLION USERS!) It provides a safe space for conversation about tough experiences and an opportunity to meet/become friends with other moms. I think this entire concept is SO GENIUS. It can be hard to make friends as an adult and especially hard to make fellow “mom friends.” During this episode, we discuss the journey of the app’s creation as well as how important it is to not be afraid to discuss heavy issues…you never know who you might impact.

Today I am chatting with Amber Romaniuk. As soon as we were introduced, I knew I had to bring her on. She is brilliant. Amber is an Emotional Eating, Digestive and Hormone Expert who helps professional women achieve optimal health through mindful eating, self-care and overcoming self-sabotage with food. She overcame her own emotional eating after gaining and losing more than 1000 lbs and spending over $50,000 on binge foods and spending 5 years balancing her hormones and digestion. Now she helps others achieve Body Freedom™ so they have the confidence and health to create amazing lives. I am so inspired by Amber and the fact that she is using her own difficult, personal experience to serve and help others. To hear more from Amber check out her podcast The No Sugarcoating Podcast.

It is an inspiring time for women to reach infinite possibilities and I am here for it. . Over the past few years, the influence of the #MeToo and Times Up movements started to shed light on inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. In addition to this, women started speaking out for equal pay. There are too many cases where women perform the exact same jobs as men and get paid MUCH less. Catt Sadler (host of Naked With Catt Sadler) is someone who is speaking out for the fight for equal pay. She is a three-time Emmy-winning journalist with twenty years on-air experience. She is well renowned for her work on E! Entertainment where she spent more than a decade contributing to E! News, E! News Weekend, Daily Pop, Live From E! and a myriad of network specials. After learning that her male counterpart at E! News was making more than double her salary (for the same position!), she decided to use her platform to speak in favor of equal pay. In this episode, Catt shares her story about her experience at E! including her decision to leave the network. Women are more than deserving to earn as much as men. Don’t settle!!

There is a huge stigma against mental illness which makes it very difficult for people to converse about it candidly. Sharon Feldstein and Patsy Noah are not shying away from the topic! If their names sound familiar, you might recognize Sharon as Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein’s mom and Patsy as Adam Levine’s mom! In addition to being BFFs and celeb moms, they are the founders of the incredible company YourMomCares! They work together with other moms across America to focus on ensuring all children have access to the resources needed to be mentally well, including receiving diagnosis and treatment, and working with programs that provide services and activities which best serve their needs. YourMomCares collaborates with carefully vetted partners to expand the field of mental wellness, creating and funding innovative, cutting edge programs and finding solutions which have a direct impact on kids and adolescents, ages 5 to 26. During our conversation, Sharon and Patsy tell me all about the multiple facets of their business (including the current development of a mental health related app) and give me their best “mommy advice” on how to help Sonny be mindful and in tune with his feelings.

Have you ever wondered what other couples fight about? Even though I was terrified to put it out there, I thought it would be interesting to let you guys in on the part of my relationship that never makes it to social media: fights with Timmy. Like every other couple out there, we fight, but rarely do people share these intimate moments. It’s scary to make yourself vulnerable, but like every other time I have put myself out there, healing and support have followed and made everything worth it. Check out this week’s episode to hear about a fight that Timmy and I get into regularly, both of our sides, and how we resolved it. Also, don’t judge us.

I think it is safe to say that the majority of women in the United States are on some form of birth control. I was told to start taking the birth control pill when I was 18 years old for acne. I know I am not the only one who’s relationship with birth control started that way. I had an incredible conversation with Sarah E. Hill, PHD all about the birth control pill and the effects it has on women’s brains and hormones. Dr. Hill, a research psychologist and professor who studies health, relationships, and other forms of social behavior using the super-generative theoretical tools available from the evolutionary sciences. Dr. Hill shares her extensive research on birth control in her new book This is Your Brain on Birth Control. This book provides an even-handed, science-based understanding of who women are, both on and off the pill. It’s so amazing that she is getting answers to questions that women deserve to know and have trouble getting. We need to understand the full picture of birth control and what it does.
For more information about birth control from Dr. Hill, check out her book This is Your Brain on Birth Control. You can get it here off of Amazon!
