I'm thrilled to have a conversation today that I've had so many times with my friend and guest, Julie Brumley, in private and safe, intimate spaces, but never on the podcast before. This topic is a very common but unspoken experience for a lot of women: intimacy blocks. Intimacy blocks can look like blocks in the bedroom, but also beyond the bedroom. Intimacy goes even deeper. Today we are talking all about intimacy blocks, the abandonment wound, and the key to healing for so many women.
As an adult adoptee with deep abandonment and rejection wounds, Julie started coming out of the fog over the last few years in relation to how her adoption had impacted her present. Through years of therapy, reading any book she could get her hands on, EMDR, recovery groups, and getting her master's degree in counseling with a specialization in addictions and recovery, she still felt stuck in similar patterns in her relationships. Julie has been coaching men and women for more than 15 years to overcome their addictive behaviors but knew there was a missing piece. Enter in somatic work with Becky, and all of the years of top-down work came to life in her body. She now has a deep desire and passion to help other adult adoptees find their way out of the fog too
