In this week's episode of the Roots to Rocket Science Podcast, host Natalie Novak had Sandra Diaz co-founder of Nu Evolution cosmetics. Sandra started her career in New York City’s fast-paced Commodity industry. She was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic marketing, advertising, and public relations programs for all Financial and Agricultural Futures and Options contracts.



Sandra’s confidence and determination landed her a job as Advertising Director at a top global financial publishing conglomerate. There, Sandra achieved record-breaking advertising sales for the publications she represented. Bringing in new clients from around the world, she continued to break records, and exceed forecasts before receiving a promotion in a new division, and becoming the top producer in her territory.



Sandra was later offered a partnership at a full-service boutique branding and design firm. At the time she joined the firm, the company was operating at a substantial loss. Since time was critical, Sandra quickly developed strategic corporate partnerships and executed aggressive sales, and marketing strategies to turn a profit in just twelve months.



Prior to launching NU EVOLUTION, Sandra ended her financial career on a high note in the Syndicated Leveraged Loan Market, where she created integrated marketing programs and achieved monumental sales year after year. Sandra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a concentration in Finance.



Episode 15 - From finance to clean beauty the story of Sandra Diaz

After a successful career in healthcare, Shreya founded Hyve, a DTC company which is disrupting the cleaning products category with probiotic-powered, plant-based formulations. Baš zato što nisam još rodila, ali sam već 5 godina u svijetu poroda, od edukacija, priča drugih, do podržavanja žena u njihovim trudnoćama i na porodima. Kroz to putovanje sam izdvojila 4 međusobno povezane stvari koje mislim da su najbitniji temelj pristupanju pripremi za porod.  Razbit ću mitove koje imaš u vezi pripreme za porod i možda ti otvorit neka nova vrata. Povezati stvari iz života, zašto su bitne za tvoj put kroz trudnoću i porod, i kako te pripremaju za majčinstvo. Poslušaj kako sam ja došla od osobe koja se boji uopće držati malu bebu u rukama, do osobe koja zna što joj može omogućiti dobro iskustvo poroda.

4 najbitnije stvari koje moraš znati dok se pripremaš za porod

Poslušaj kako je ova žena krenula od paralzirajućeg straha od poroda, preko donošenja hrabrih odluka usprkos drugima i bez njihove podrške tokom trudnoće, na svoj način došla do poroda kakvog je htjela.  Potpuno bezbolan, medikaliziran porod koji je njoj omogućio povezivanje sa njenom bebom. Mi smo tu da budemo sjedoci njene priče i hrabrosti, bez osuđivanja njenih izbora.  Svaka od nas će se moći pronaći u dijelovima ove priče, bilo da je to neuživanje u trudnoći, strah od bolova, potreba da ne budemo nage izložene osoblju ili strah od povezivanja s bebom.

Kristina je u ovom razgovoru kao vodič kroz njene odluke koji nas ohrabruje da i mi preuzmemo svoj život i svoj porod u svoje ruke kao što je to ona učinila. Ušla je u dubinu problema i našeg slijepog vjerovanja stručnjacima i sustavu (ili barem osjećaja da ne „smijemo“ drugačije) i objasnila kako je ona izašla iz tog začaranog kruga. U svom moćnom iznošenju viđenja nje same i njenog ponašanja, svega što može i treba tražiti i na što ima pravo ohrabruje sve nas da učinimo isto. Ono što mene najviše oduševljava je kako iz svake njene rečenice vidim da je prestala biti žrtva okolnosti i drugih ljudi, već je svjesno počela preuzimati odgovornost za svoj život i to je bila prekretnica i ostvarivanju poroda kakvog želi.

Let us start by saying, we encourage pregnant women toward balanced diets, proper exercise, and we discourage unnecessary drug and alcohol use. But, what if a mother consumes cannabis during pregnancy? In this episode Kirk and Trevor begin to explore prenatal cannabis exposure and are joined by Dr. Ciara Torres, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Columbia University. This neuroscientists near six-year meta-analysis found prenatal use of cannabis does not lead to cognitive impairment of children. Dr. Torres discusses how her study, published May 2020, offers policy makers a better understanding of how cannabis affects newborns. Often babies are removed from a family when it is discovered a mother used cannabis during the pregnancy; this action may actually be more harmful than the exposure.
